Summary:
Salient Global Technologies CORP is seeking aSoftware Development Engineer to join our innovative team in Dallas, Texas. The ideal candidate will possess strong experience in thesoftware development life cycle,5G network architecture, andAPI design forDeep Packet Inspection (DPI).
This position requires aMaster’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field. Candidates withU.S.-based degrees are strongly preferred; however,foreign equivalent degrees that meet U.S. educational standards will also be accepted.
Applicants must haveat least two (2) years of experience in software development, programming inC and Python, working withCI/CD pipelines, and developing incloud environments such as AWS.

Full-Time (40 hours per week) | Monday–Friday

Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze call flows between5G Network Elements (e.g., gNB, AMF, SMF, UPF, NRF) to determineDeep Packet Inspection (DPI) API requirements.
- Definesoftware requirements andLevel of Effort (LOE) for API development based on call flow analysis.
- Design and developPacket Dissectors for 5G protocol analysis.
- Design, develop, modify, and documentDPI APIs usingC, Python, and LUA programming languages.
- Develop and executetesting frameworks to validate API functionality and performance.
- Modify and optimize existing software to correct errors, support new protocols and hardware, and enhance performance.
- Prepare and maintain project documentation, including specifications, progress reports, and technical analyses.
- Collaborate with end users, software engineers, systems architects, and project managers to ensure successful solution delivery.
- Utilize source control and project management tools such asGit,Jira, andConfluence.
- Configure and managenetwork elements includingBrocade TAP,Juniper, andCisco routers.
- Install, manage, and troubleshoot5G VNF andCNF elements withinOpenStack andOpenShift environments.
- Configure5G Radio Elements (RRU, BBU, gNB, UPF) for packet capture readiness.
- Configure and debugUser Equipment (UEs) for packet capture usingQxDM andXCAL.
- Createhigh-level call flow andarchitecture diagrams in collaboration with Systems Architects.
- Automatedata capture, testing, and build deployments to streamline engineering operations.
- Master’s degree inComputer Science,Computer Engineering, or aclosely related field.
- U.S.-based degree strongly preferred; foreign equivalent degrees meeting U.S. standards will also be considered.

- Minimum oftwo (2) years of professional experience in software development, including:
- Programming inC andPython
- Developing APIs and implementingCI/CD pipelines
- Working withincloud environments (e.g., AWS)
- Hands-on experience withLTE/5G network architecture andprotocol analysis
- Programming inC andPython
- Proficiency withLUA scripting andautomation frameworks.
- Experience withOpenStack andOpenShift deployments.
- Familiarity withnetwork packet analysis tools and5G protocol layers.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
- Excellent collaboration skills and ability to work cross-functionally with engineering and operations teams.
