Software & Controls Engineer

PGS Worldwide is seeking aSoftware & Controls Engineer in Santa Rosa, California for a one-year onsite contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company. This position will develop and support software and control systems used in automated manufacturing and test equipment, with a focus on PLC programming, controls troubleshooting, equipment upgrades, and manufacturing-system reliability.

Required Skills

• 1–2 years of experience withPLC programming, industrial automation, or control-system support.
• Experience withSiemens TIA Portal, Allen-Bradley RSLogix, GE Fanuc LogicMaster, or similar PLC platforms.
• Experience troubleshooting electrical controls, instrumentation, sensors, actuators, motor controls, or electromechanical equipment.
• Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, I/O lists, control drawings, and mechanical drawings.
• Experience developing, modifying, testing, or debugging software used to control automated equipment.
• Experience creating and maintaining technical documentation, wiring diagrams, equipment configurations, and software revisions.

Preferred Skills

• Experience withStudio 5000.
• LabVIEW programming experience.
• Industrial wiring and control-panel experience.
• Experience reverse engineering legacy control systems and mapping I/O.
• Experience with equipment upgrades, software migration, hardware obsolescence, or manufacturing data systems.
• Experience with relational databases or formal change-control processes.

What You’ll Do

• Develop, modify, test, and support software and control systems for automated manufacturing equipment.
• Program and troubleshoot PLC logic, operator interfaces, sensors, actuators, and equipment communications.
• Support root-cause investigations and corrective actions for equipment issues.
• Update wiring diagrams, I/O maps, signal-flow documentation, and as-built records.
• Support hardware upgrades, software migrations, equipment commissioning, and production release.
• Work with Engineering, Maintenance, and Production teams to improve equipment reliability and performance.

Pay

• $48.00–$55.00 per hour.
