Forbes is looking for a Social Video Producer/Editor with proven experience creating original, vertical-first video content for platforms including Instagram, TikTok and YouTube Shorts. This is a true hybrid producer/editor role requiring strong creative, editorial and organizational skills. The ideal candidate is a confident editor and creative producer who can develop compelling short-form content while helping manage a high-volume video operation. Working closely with the Social Strategy and Video teams, this person will help oversee the day-to-day social video pipeline, ensuring projects move efficiently from production through publication.
To be considered, applicants must include a portfolio demonstrating original, social-first video work and evidence of successful audience reach and engagement.
This position will require 5 days a week in office in Jersey City or on-site at events.

Responsibilities

  • Create and edit high-quality, vertical-first social video with strong judgment around hooks, pacing, structure, captions and the opening seconds that drive audience attention and retention.
  • Edit quickly and confidently in Adobe Premiere Pro, delivering polished assets on deadline and working within existing Forbes graphics, captioning and audio standards.
  • Own the day-to-day social video pipeline, tracking the content backlog, edits, approvals, deadlines and deliverables from production through publication.
  • Coordinate with Social Strategy, Video and other stakeholders to prioritize work, manage timelines and support efficient rollout of a high volume of short-form content.
  • Identify and develop strong social-first opportunities from existing footage, interviews, events and other Forbes video, while contributing ideas for new short-form concepts and recurring formats.
  • Support the planning and production of vertical video tied to Forbes editorial priorities, working closely with the Social Strategy and Video teams to execute against the broader programming strategy.
  • Partner with the Social Strategy team on interview preparation, research, question development and other pre-production needs for social-first shoots and event coverage.
  • Participate in shoots and on-site event coverage, helping ensure content is captured with vertical and social deliverables in mind.
  • Collaborate with Forbes’ Social Strategy and Video teams to adapt long-form video for social, execute original short-form content and support projects across editorial, events, sponsored programs and other Forbes programming.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts and other relevant platforms, applying evolving formats, audience behavior and vertical video best practices to each project.
  • Maintain Forbes’ journalistic, editorial, brand and creative standards across all work, while supporting publishing and distribution workflows as needed.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Has a proven track record creating vertical, social-first video that performs, with portfolio examples demonstrating strong audience viewership, engagement or other meaningful performance.
  • Is highly creative, with strong instincts for developing original, Forbes-relevant video concepts, recurring formats and compelling hooks that make audiences want to stop and watch.
  • Understands short-form storytelling and can independently shape footage into an engaging vertical video, with strong judgment around the opening seconds, pacing, structure, captions and retention.
  • Uses performance and audience behavior to inform creative decisions and continually improve short-form storytelling.
  • Has 1–2+ years of hands-on experience editing in Adobe Premiere Pro and can work quickly and confidently across a high volume of vertical video edits. Experience with Photoshop and Figma is a plus.
  • Is exceptionally organized and able to manage a large pipeline of projects, deadlines, deliverables and competing priorities. Experience with Asana or similar project-management tools is a plus.
  • Demonstrates strong editorial judgment and an understanding of news, business, culture and the types of stories and ideas that resonate with Forbes audiences.
  • Is proactive, collaborative and comfortable working across Social Strategy, Video and other teams, incorporating feedback quickly while bringing ideas and creative solutions to the table.
  • Maintains a strong understanding of Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts and the evolving formats, behaviors and best practices that shape successful vertical video.
