We are looking for an Engineer / Metallurgical Engineer to join our Lansing, NY team!
The Engineer in the Metallurgy Department supports the execution and development of metallurgical testing and analysis.
This entry-to-mid-level engineering role is ideal for candidates with a strong foundation in materials science and a desire to grow within a fast-paced, technical laboratory environment.
Location:Lansing, NY (on-site)
Salary:$60,000-65,000

Your Challenge:
- Assist in performing metallurgical evaluations including microstructure analysis, grain size measurement, and failure investigations.
- Support sample preparation for metallographic analysis using polishing, etching, and mounting techniques.
- Operate and maintain lab equipment such as optical microscopes, hardness testers, and SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope).
- Review and interpret test data, contributing to technical reports and client communications.
- Collaborate with senior engineers and technicians to develop and refine test methods.
- Ensure compliance with internal quality systems and industry standards (e.g., ASTM, ISO, NADCAP).
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and lab safety programs.
What You Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Metallurgical Engineering, or a related field. Associate’s degree with supporting experience will be considered.
- 0–3 years of experience in a laboratory or engineering environment (internships or co-ops considered).
- Basic understanding of metallurgical principles and testing standards.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality and accuracy.
Preferred:
- Experience with metallographic sample preparation and microscopy.
- Familiarity with SEM/EDS analysis.
- Exposure to regulated industries such as aerospace or medical devices.
