In 2016, the Commonwealth of Virginia selected a Cintra-led consortium to finance, design, build, operate and maintain the express lanes on Interstate 66 Outside the Beltway. The project will transform this critical Northern Virginia artery to relieve congestion, improve safety and provide more predictable travel times. The project corridor extends approximately 22 miles along Interstate 66 from the Capital Beltway (I-495) to Gainesville (US Route 29). Once completed, the project will include three toll-free general-purpose lanes in each direction and two express lanes in each direction with a state-of-the-art open-road electronic toll collection system. Expanded transit service, park-and-ride lots and interchange enhancements will further improve travel along I-66. The project will also connect several shared use paths to create more multimodal options. As an innovative and efficient public-private partnership, this project will be completed at a $2.5 billion net savings for the Commonwealth of Virginia.What makes us different? TheRoadwayMaintenance Technicianoperates automotive and maintenance equipment to transport material, equipment and maintenance personnel as well as performing skilledhighwaymaintenance duties. Also,participates in the maintenance of buildings.Works with maintenancepersonnel receives assignments from the Maintenance Supervisor or Manager, andon occasionssupervises personnel on various job assignments. You will guideand/or train less experienced personnel on equipment operation and roadway maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
Operates equipmentsuch astractors, mowers, sweepers,bucket trucks,Truck Mounted Attenuators (TMA’s) andSnow Plows.
Operate assigned gas or hand tools to complete Daily Assignments
Inspects equipment for proper operating condition, makes minor repairs or adjustments, lubricates andassists in making repairs asrequired
Performs skilled maintenancesuch astraffic control, pavement repair, landscaping, painting,relamping,guardrail and barrier repairs,and isavailableon-call after hours for emergency maintenance service, as needed
Responds to traffic incidents,provides roadsideassistance to motoristsonI-66andisavailable on-call after hours foremergency incident response, as needed
Performs miscellaneous building maintenance asrequired
Any other job duties as assigned
Qualifications:

Education, Experience & Certification:
A Class “B” Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with the endorsement of air brakes is desired
1 -3+ years of experience in general roadway maintenance, traffic control,and traffic management is desired
Previous experience with construction vehicles and snow removal operations is desired
Basic knowledge of automotive mechanics
Professional Qualities:
Ability to interact with colleagues in a team structure
Self-motivated and able to motivate others
Good communication skills
User level ofMicrosoft Office (Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint) andcapable of learning and useother PC-based software
Must be able to multitask and problem solve withinafast-paced environment

Compensation:$30.50-$34.50 hourly
The salary/hourly range aboverepresents the full pay band for this position. Actual compensation offered will bedetermined based on a candidate's relevant experience, skills, certifications, and qualifications at the time ofhire, and may fall at any point within this range. In limited circumstances, compensation above the posted range may be considered for an exceptionally qualified candidate.
