We are currently seeking a Site Developer to join our team at our San Diego, CA Campus. In this position you will be responsible for building, expanding, and sustaining a high-quality network of clinical externship sites and employer partners for our programs. This role is a business development and relationship management position focused on generating new externship opportunities, strengthening employer partnerships, and supporting the institution’s extern-to-hire pipeline. The Site Developer works to ensure that externship capacity aligns with student demand and that externship sites consistently convert into employment opportunities.
This position requires extensive fieldwork, employer outreach, and community engagement across California healthcare environments.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
Externship Site DevelopmentÂ
Identify, prospect, and secure new externship sites including hospitals, clinics, laboratories, blood banks, EMS agencies, urgent care centers, and other healthcare providers.Â
Build and maintain a consistent pipeline of active externship opportunities to meet and exceed student placement demand.Â
Execute outreach strategies including:Â
Cold calling and in-person visitsÂ
Networking with healthcare administrators and hiring managersÂ
Participation in community and workforce eventsÂ
Partner with the Director to align site development with externship capacity planning and enrollment growth.Â
Ensure all new externship sites meet California regulatory, safety, and program-specific requirements prior to student placement.Â
Employer Relationship Management
Establish and maintain strong relationships with healthcare employers to support both externship placement and hiring pipelines.Â
Serve as a primary liaison between the institution and employer partners.Â
Conduct regular site visits to:Â
Maintain relationshipsÂ
Evaluate site qualityÂ
Identify hiring needs and opportunitiesÂ
Promote extern-to-hire pathways, encouraging employers to hire students upon externship completion.Â
Ensure high levels of employer satisfaction, engagement, and retention.Â
Externship Pipeline & Workforce Alignment
Collaborate with the Externship Assistant to:Â
Align student readiness with site availabilityÂ
Ensure appropriate matching of students to externship sitesÂ
Provide real-time feedback to campus teams regarding:Â
Employer expectationsÂ
Skill gapsÂ
Hiring trendsÂ
Support achievement of key performance targets:Â
Externship placement ratesÂ
Extern-to-hire conversion ratesÂ
Employer retention and expansionÂ
Compliance & Documentation
Assist in securing and maintaining required documentation for externship sites, including:Â
Affiliation agreementsÂ
Site approvals and evaluationsÂ
Ensure all employer partnerships comply with:Â
California Labor Laws and externship guidelinesÂ
HIPAA, OSHA, and workplace safety standardsÂ
Maintain accurate and timely records of employer interactions, site development activities, and partnership status.Â
Collaboration & Internal Communication
Work closely with campus teams
Participate in team meetings to review:Â
Site development progressÂ
Student placement needsÂ
Employer feedbackÂ
Contribute to continuous improvement of externship and placement strategies.Â
Community Engagement & Brand Representation
Represent the institution in the community as a professional ambassador.Â

Promote the school’s programs and students to potential employer partners.Â

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree preferredÂ
4–5 years of experience in:Â
Business development, sales, or employer relationsÂ
Healthcare, staffing, or workforce development preferredÂ
Experience working with healthcare providers or clinical environments strongly preferredÂ
Familiarity with California healthcare landscape is a plusÂ
Strong business development and relationship-building skillsÂ
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (verbal and written)Â
Ability to confidently engage with healthcare professionals and leadershipÂ
Results-driven with a proactive and persistent approachÂ
Strong organizational and time management skillsÂ
Ability to work independently in a field-based environmentÂ
Problem-solving and adaptability in dynamic situationsÂ
Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word)Â
Work Environment & Requirements
Extensive local travel required to healthcare facilities throughout CaliforniaÂ
Valid California driver’s license, reliable transportation, and auto insurance requiredÂ
Ability to work both independently in the field and collaboratively with campus teamsÂ
Physical and mental demands consistent with field-based relationship management and administrative dutiesÂ
