Job Description: ServiceNow SAM Pro Developer / Consultant

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced ServiceNow Software Asset Management (SAM Pro) Developer / Consultant with 3–5 years of hands-on experience in ServiceNow SAM Pro configuration, software license compliance, vendor onboarding, renewals, and integrations. The ideal candidate should have expertise in software entitlement management, Effective License Position (ELP) creation, software data normalization, Flow Designer, and integration with discovery tools such as SCCM and JAMF.

The role involves supporting Software Asset Management (SAM) initiatives, improving software compliance, optimizing license utilization, and collaborating with IT, procurement, and cybersecurity teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Support SAM projects, including vendor onboarding, software renewals, entitlement reconciliation, deployment tracking, and license compliance.

• Create and maintain Effective License Positions (ELPs) and identify software license optimization opportunities.

• Support publisher audits, contract changes, renewals, and software compliance risk mitigation.

• Review ELPs and compliance positions for high-risk software publishers and assist in publisher risk categorization.

• Configure and maintain ServiceNow SAM Pro workflows, software models, publisher packs, and the Software Content Library.

• Integrate discovery and inventory tools such as SCCM, JAMF, and Flexera to collect software installation, usage, and inventory data.

• Maintain data accuracy and integrity across SAM Pro, CMDB, software catalogs, and asset records.

• Design and automate workflows using ServiceNow Flow Designer based on business requirements.

• Gather requirements and prepare technical workflow diagrams using Microsoft Visio.

• Integrate SAM Pro with contract management, vendor management, and relevant IT asset management modules.

• Analyze software utilization, identify unused licenses, and support software reclamation and cost optimization initiatives.

• Develop dashboards, reports, and actionable metrics to track software compliance and asset performance.

• Participate in stakeholder workshops and collaborate with IT, procurement, cybersecurity, and vendor management teams.

• Prepare technical documentation, workflow designs, data models, and UI mockups as required.

• Support testing, troubleshooting, deployment to higher environments, and continuous platform improvements.

• Research new SAM Pro capabilities, best practices, and opportunities to develop reusable templates and internal accelerators.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• 3–5 years of hands-on experience with ServiceNow, including practical experience in SAM Pro.

• Strong understanding of Software Asset Management, software licensing, entitlement reconciliation, and license compliance.

• Experience creating and configuring ServiceNow SAM Pro workflows and automations using Flow Designer.

• Hands-on experience with software discovery integrations, SCCM, and software installation or usage data collection.

• Experience with software data normalization, publisher packs, and the Software Content Library.

• Knowledge of ELP creation, software license optimization, renewals, and publisher audit support.

• Experience integrating SAM Pro with CMDB, asset inventory, contract management, and vendor management modules.

• Ability to gather requirements, document workflows in Visio, and translate business requirements into technical solutions.

• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.

Good-to-Have Skills

• ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) or Certified Implementation Specialist – Software Asset Management (CIS-SAM).

• Experience with CMDB, IT Asset Management (ITAM), and configuration management integrations.

• Familiarity with Flexera, JAMF, SCCM, or similar software asset management and discovery tools.

• Knowledge of cloud software, SaaS license management, and hybrid infrastructure environments.

• Understanding of cybersecurity risk, software compliance, and IT governance processes.

• Experience with ServiceNow scripting, integrations, and platform enhancements.

• Strong stakeholder management, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.

• MBA preferred.

The team delivers services across technology software and asset compliance management, cyber risk and compliance, third-party risk management, solution design and implementation, and cyber risk analytics.

The successful candidate will contribute to software asset compliance, license optimization, automation, and ServiceNow SAM Pro transformation initiatives.
