Job Description: ServiceNow Developer
A ServiceNow Developer designs, configures, and customizes the ServiceNow platform to streamline business workflows, typically requiring 3+ years of experience. Key responsibilities include scripting (JavaScript, Glide API), creating UI policies/business rules, building integrations (REST/SOAP), and managing CMDB. ServiceNow Developer Certifications required.
Key Responsibilities
ServiceNow BCM Development
• Configure and implement various ServiceNow modules, including:
o Plan templates and lifecycle automation
o Business Impact Analysis (BIA) components
o Recovery strategies and dependencies
o Exercise workflows and data capture
o Automated notifications, tasks, and approvals
• Build ServiceNow workflows, Flow Designer logic, UI policies, business rules, data schemas, and integrations in alignment with approved solution designs.
• Implement role-based access, data models, and security requirements for BCM.
Technical Delivery & Quality Assurance
• Develop according to project design documents, development standards, and governance rules.
• Conduct unit testing, validate configuration, and remediate defects until successful completion.
• Provide support during User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and release activities.
• Ensure solution performance, data integrity, and maintainability.
Collaboration & Support
• Partner with Business Analysts, Product Owners, and client stakeholders to clarify requirements and confirm technical feasibility.
• Collaborate with architects, platform owners, QA teams, and other developers to ensure consistency across modules.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, and technical design sessions.
Documentation & Knowledge Transfer
• Document configuration steps, technical designs, script logic, and workflow behavior.
• Provide technical input for user guides, training materials, and BCM process documentation.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Technical Skills
• 3+ years of hands-on development experience in ServiceNow, preferably in IRM/GRC/BCM related modules.
• Strong proficiency in:
o Flow Designer, Workflow Editor
o Business Rules, Script Includes, Glide scripting
o Catalog Items and ServiceNow Forms
o Notifications, SLAs, Access Controls (ACLs)
o Reporting and dashboard configuration
• Experience building structured, scalable workflows based on design specifications.
Business Continuity Knowledge
• Understanding of BCM concepts such as BIAs, continuity plans, dependencies, RTO/RPO, exercises, and recovery strategies.
• Ability to translate BCM lifecycle needs into technical system behavior.
Professional & Analytical Skills
• Strong problem solving, troubleshooting, and technical analysis abilities.
• Ability to interpret design documents and propose feasible implementation options.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills when working with cross functional groups.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
Preferred Qualifications
• ServiceNow certifications:
o CSA (Certified System Administrator)
o CAD (Certified Application Developer)
o IRM/BCM micro certifications
• Experience with API integrations, MID server, CMDB alignment, or IRM/GRC implementations.
• Development experience supporting regulated or compliance-driven environments.
