Role title:Senior Quality Engineering Consultant — Oracle Fusion HCM
Location:Seattle, WA preferred; remote-with-travel candidates considered
Role Summary
The senior functional quality authority for the HCM pillar — Core HR and the full employee lifecycle, extending into US Payroll and Benefits. This person owns the HCM test basis, directs the offshore HCM pod, and carries an accountability the program treats as top-tier risk:proving that payroll is safe to cut over.
Core HR is also the workflow and approval backbone for ERP transactions, so this role carries a cross-pillar dependency from day one. We need someone who understands that a person-record or supervisor-hierarchy defect surfaces as a finance approval failure three workstreams away — and who tests accordingly.
Key Responsibilities
·Own the HCM test basis: derive test conditions and scenarios from HCM enterprise and workforce structures, security and role design, and end-to-end employee lifecycle process flows.
•Author and review functional test scenarios across the in-scope HCM footprint (see Section 0).
•Lead functional test execution through system, end-to-end, and user acceptance testing; direct and quality-check offshore QE resources assigned to HCM.
•Own payroll test execution: gross-to-net validation, earnings and deduction element testing, retroactive processing, off-cycle and adjustment scenarios, year-end and W-2 validation, tax filing interfaces, and multi-jurisdiction scenarios.
•Design and execute the parallel payroll run: reconciliation methodology, variance thresholds, exception investigation, and sign-off evidence. This is the single highest-risk test event in the program.
•Test collective bargaining agreement–driven pay and work rules across represented employee groups, validating against agreement terms with Labor Relations and Payroll SMEs.
•Own HCM integration test scenarios across a large interface estate — time and attendance, workforce and crew scheduling, benefits and leave administration, payroll tax and compliance, retirement and equity administration, identity and access provisioning, learning and talent, and industry-specific compliance interfaces.
•Validate HCM data conversion: worker records, position and job structures, supervisor hierarchies, compensation history, absence balances, seniority data, and payroll historical balances.
•Validate role-based access provisioning and segregation of duties for HCM, including sensitive data access, with the controls and risk workstreams.
•Facilitate UAT for HR, Payroll, Benefits, and Talent Acquisition business users.
•Coordinate with the ERP QE consultant on cross-pillar scenarios where HCM data drives finance workflow, approvals, and cost allocation.
Required Qualifications
•10+ years in QA/QE, including6+ years leading functional test delivery on Oracle HCM implementations.
•At least one full-lifecycle Oracle Fusion HCM Cloud implementation owned through go-live.
Mandatory:
•Hands-on Oracle Cloud US Payroll testing experience, including at least one payroll go-live and direct involvement in a parallel payroll run. This is a hard requirement and will be assessed in technical screening.
•Functional depth in Oracle Fusion HCM: enterprise and workforce structures, person and assignment models, position management, supervisor hierarchies, security profiles and data roles, approval workflows, and fast formulas.
•Working knowledge of US payroll fundamentals: gross-to-net, pre-tax and post-tax deductions, garnishments, multi-state taxation, retro processing, and year-end reporting.
•Hands-on HCM data conversion validation, including payroll balance conversion and reconciliation.
•Experience with time and attendance integration testing into payroll.
•Experience with HCM integration testing across a large benefits, payroll, and third-party vendor interface landscape.
•Experience leading or directing offshore test resources.
•Proficient with enterprise test management tooling; disciplined about traceability, evidence, and handling of sensitive HR data.
•Demonstrated discretion handling PII and confidential compensation data.
•Legally authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.
Preferred
•PeopleSoft HCM background, particularly migration to Fusion.
•Payroll testing in a unionized environment where collective bargaining agreements drive pay rules.
•Complex, regulated, or 24/7 operational industry experience — airline, transportation, logistics, healthcare, utilities, or similar — especially where scheduling, seniority rules, or premium pay structures apply.
•Oracle Benefits implementation testing, including open enrollment and carrier feed validation.
•Oracle Recruiting Cloud and Onboarding experience.
•Exposure to Oracle Risk Management Cloud / HCM Advanced Controls.
•Automation literacy sufficient to specify and review automated HCM regression.
•Post-merger workforce integration experience.
