What to Expect
Tesla was founded in 2003 with the goal of accelerating the transition to sustainable energy and protecting the planet Earth. Through solar energy, batteries, and electric vehicles, we are building a world of amazing abundance.
At Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg, we manufacture the Model Y, and starting in 2027, we’ll produce everything from battery cells to electric vehicles. This is unique in Europe. Our international team consists of over 12,000 employees from 130 countries. We hire talent at all skill levels - prior experience in the automotive industry is not required. Would you like to help write the next chapter in Tesla’s success story and work at one of Germany’s most modern workplaces? Then this is the right place for you!
The mission of our Cell Training team is to qualify everyone working on the 4680 cell manufacturing lines at Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg through hands-on training, whether in production, maintenance or quality assurance. We are a new team in which every opinion counts and we support one another. As part of this team, you can help shape our training concept from the start.Â
Your responsibility is the technical leadership of the Cell Training team. Together with the Cell team, you develop the qualification standards by which employees in every area of cell manufacturing learn their stations, become certified and later train others on the job. You provide technical guidance to the training instructors and take part in hiring new training instructors.Â
To keep the system working on every shift, you work closely with Cell Operations, Process Engineering, Quality Assurance, Maintenance and the central Learning & Development team.Â
What You’ll Do
- Qualification system: You develop and own the cell manufacturing qualification system, from skill levels through theory and practical exams and retraining intervals to a train-the-trainer program and the legally required safety instructions, with audit-proof documentation, in coordination with EHS and the shop.Â
- Digital work instructions and skill matrix: You roll both out in every area and on every shift, and you make sure they are used in day-to-day work.Â
- Change management: You make sure that every new version of a work instruction and every urgent notice reaches everyone affected, on all shifts, within a defined time frame.Â
- New-hire orientation: You design the onboarding of new employees in cell manufacturing so that they become familiar with safety, process fundamentals and digital work instructions.Â
- Effectiveness and metrics: You use audits to check how effective the training is, and you regularly report metrics such as qualification rate, trainer ratio and rollout time to Cell leadership.Â
- Training: You deliver and develop Cell- and EHS-specific technical training.Â
- Ramp-up and systems: You support the Cell team in planning qualification for the ramp-up and, together with IT and Engineering, you define the requirements for linking the skill matrix to equipment access rights and for developing it further.Â
- Team building: You take part in hiring and developing the training instructors, and you personally deliver selected advanced courses and train-the-trainer classes
What You’ll Bring
- Education: You have a completed degree in a technical field or in education, a German Meister or Techniker qualification, or several years of relevant experience in technical training or workforce qualification.Â
- Professional experience: You have at least five years in series production or an industrial environment, including at least three years in training, qualification or a comparable role, and you know from hands-on experience how to run, change over and troubleshoot production lines.Â
- Training methods: You have solid skills in training methods and instructional design, have already designed and delivered training courses, seminars and workshops, and have built qualification concepts, exams or a skill matrix.Â
- Communication and presentation: You have very strong communication and presentation skills and can explain complex technical topics simply and clearly, to people on the line as well as to management.Â
- Continuous improvement, an open mindset and a proactive yet supportive way of working round out your profile.Â
- Project and leadership experience: You have already led cross-functional projects or provided technical guidance to others, and you work independently and in a structured way.Â
- Languages and flexibility: You speak German very well (C1) and English well (B2), and you are willing to cover other shifts from time to time, including on weekends, and to travel to other Tesla cell factories (about 10%).Â
Nice to HaveÂ
- Industry experience: You have already worked in battery cell manufacturing.Â
- Qualification systems: You have already built a skill matrix or a qualification system, for example based on TWI (Training Within Industry).Â
- Digital tools: You are familiar with digital work instructions and with learning management systems (LMS) or training management systems (TMS).Â
- Ramp-up: You have already taken part in a factory start-up or a production ramp-up.Â
- Trainer certificate: You hold a German AEVO trainer certificate (Ausbilderschein).Â
