About the role

We are looking for a hands-on Senior Technical Consultant, Financial Software to work with financial institutions in Japan on the implementation and delivery of financial technology solutions.

This role is designed for someone who is comfortable going beyond functional requirements and working directly with the technical environment. You will work directly with clients to gather requirements, lead workshops, analyse business processes, design and configure solutions, support migration and integration activities, investigate issues and support testing throughout the implementation lifecycle.

What you will be doing

• Lead client workshops and requirements gathering sessions to understand their technical environment, architecture, interfaces, data, and implementation requirements.

• Support data migration, conversion and reconciliation activities, including data validation and issue resolution.

• Support system integration testing, user acceptance testing and defect triage activities.
• Investigate application and implementation issues through hands-on analysis of system logs, databases, configuration, interfaces, and related technical component.
• Use SQL to analyze data, troubleshoot issues, validate results, and support implementation activities.
• Analyze integration requirements and work with REST APIs, XML, and other system interfaces and data format.
• Troubleshoot technical issues across client environments and work with internal product, development and delivery teams to identify solution.
• Support technical design, configuration, testing, deployment, and issue resolution throughout the implementation lifecycle.
• Translate client requirements and technical findings into clear specifications and recommendations for technical and non-technical stakeholder.
• Communicate effectively with Japanese-speaking clients and English-speaking regional or global stakeholders.

What you bring

• At least 5 years of relevant experience in technical consulting, software implementation, application support, systems integration, software engineering, or a similar technology-focused role.
• Experience implementing, supporting, integrating, or troubleshooting financial software within banking, payments, lending, leasing, securities, risk, or another financial services environment.
• Strong SQL skills and confidence working directly with databases and data.
• Hands-on troubleshooting skills, including the ability to investigate application and system logs rather than relying only on functional analysis.
• Experience with system integration, data migration, software implementation and or conversion projects.
• Experience working with REST APIs and XML.
• Ability to analyze a client's existing technology environment and understand how applications, data, interfaces, and systems interact.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a practical and hands-on approach to investigating technical issues.
• Ability to explain technical topics clearly to both technical and business stakeholders.
• Effective Japanese and English communication skills for working with clients and regional or global teams.Japanese proficiency of JLPT N2 or above, or equivalent business-level proficiency, is required.

Added bonus if you have

• Experience with C# or other object-oriented programming languages.
• Experience with asset finance, leasing, lending, or asset finance technology.
• Experience delivering financial software in a client-facing consulting or professional services environment.
• Experience with enterprise financial systems and complex integrations involving multiple applications or data sources.
• Broader experience with banking or payments technology.
• Asset finance experience is valuable but is not required. We are open to candidates with strong technical implementation experience across any financial software, including banking, payments, lending, leasing, securities, risk or other financial technology platforms.
