Senior Systems & Network Engineer

We are seeking aSenior Systems & Network Engineer for a full-time, onsite contract opportunity inGreenville, SC, lasting up to six months. This position requires10+ years of hands-on enterprise infrastructure experience, with strong expertise in Windows Server administration, SQL Server clustering, VMware vSphere, Microsoft Azure, Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS), and PowerShell scripting. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Windows Server upgrades, server migrations, hybrid cloud environments, and complex infrastructure troubleshooting, along with the ability to collaborate effectively and share technical knowledge with other engineers.

Requirements & Skills

• 10+ years of hands-on enterprise systems engineering, network engineering, or infrastructure administration experience.

• Extensive experience withWindows Server 2012 R2, 2016, 2019, 2022, and/or 2025, including in-place upgrades, server migrations, and production troubleshooting.

• Strong experience withMicrosoft SQL Server, including SQL Server upgrades, clustering, and high-availability configurations.

• Hands-on experience withWindows Server Failover Clustering (WSFC), cluster administration, and troubleshooting.

• Advanced knowledge ofVMware vSphere, including ESXi, vCenter, virtualization management, and virtual machine migrations.

• Strong experience withMicrosoft Azure, including Azure Virtual Machines, virtual networking, and hybrid cloud infrastructure.

• Expertise inActive Directory (AD), Group Policy (GPO), Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS), and hybrid identity management with Microsoft Entra ID / Azure AD Connect.

• Proficiency inPowerShell scripting for infrastructure automation, administration, and troubleshooting.

• Experience administering and troubleshootingCisco networking technologies, including switches, routers, and enterprise network connectivity.

• Knowledge of enterprise storage solutions, SAN storage, DNS, certificate management, and enterprise patch management.

• Experience withMicrosoft 365 / Office 365, Exchange administration, email security, and spam filtering.

• Working experience administering and supporting Linux server environments.

• Strong understanding of enterprise infrastructure, high availability, disaster recovery, system security, and change management.

• Ability to independently diagnose and resolve complex technical issues across multiple infrastructure platforms.

• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to mentor engineers and share technical knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Administer, maintain, troubleshoot, and upgrade enterprise Windows Server environments across physical, virtual, and hybrid infrastructure.

• Plan and execute Windows Server upgrades and migrations, including legacy server modernization and production system transitions.

• Support Microsoft SQL Server infrastructure, including SQL Server upgrades, Windows Server Failover Clustering, and high-availability configurations.

• Manage VMware vSphere environments, including ESXi hosts, vCenter, virtual machines, and virtualization performance.

• Administer Microsoft Azure infrastructure, including cloud-hosted virtual machines, networking, and hybrid connectivity.

• Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Active Directory, Group Policy, ADFS, and Microsoft Entra ID synchronization.

• Develop and execute PowerShell scripts to automate administration tasks, improve efficiency, and streamline infrastructure operations.

• Support Cisco network infrastructure, including routing, switching, and network connectivity troubleshooting.

• Administer enterprise storage, DNS, certificate services, patching, and related infrastructure components.

• Support Microsoft 365, Exchange, email filtering, and Linux server environments.

• Troubleshoot complex server, network, virtualization, authentication, and infrastructure performance issues.

• Collaborate with a team of systems and networking professionals to execute infrastructure improvements, upgrades, and technical projects.

• Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and knowledge transfer to existing engineers.

• Develop and maintain technical documentation, migration plans, system configurations, and operational procedures.

• Recommend infrastructure improvements to enhance stability, security, scalability, and system performance.
