Senior Systems Engineer (Linux/AIX)

Genesis10 is currently seeking a Senior Systems Engineer (Linux/AIX) for a contract position with a Global Financial Institution located in Plano, TX, Jersey City, NJ or Charlotte, NC. This is a 12 month contract opportunity.

This is a senior-level role responsible for the design, development, and implementation of complex system engineering activities. The ideal candidate will be a subject matter expert in Linux (RHEL/SLES) and have experience with IBM AIX, shell scripting, and hardware/software solutions in a large-scale enterprise environment. This position involves on-call support and requires strong troubleshooting skills for network, performance, and software issues.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and/or participate in the design, development, and implementation of complex system engineering activities involving cross-functional technical support, systems programming and data center capabilities
• Take responsibility for components of highly complex engineering and/or analytical tasks and activities
• Provide and communicate complex technology solutions across differing audiences including technical, managerial, business executives, and/or vendors
• Recommend, design, develop, and implement software and hardware solutions
• Provide Operating System technical and break/fix level support

Requirements:

• 10 years of IT/systems engineering experience
• Senior level experience primarily with Linux
• Proficient in performing OS administration tasks on RHEL6, RHEL7 running on ESX virtualized servers
• In-depth Linux knowledge, including LVM and SAN multipathing
• Expertise in RedHat Linux Clustering Solutions
• Proficient in performing OS administration tasks on SLES 11 running on bare metal servers
• Experience installing, configuring and supporting Puppet
• Knowledge of SAN based disk solutions and their configurations
• Shell scripting and automation skills
• Ability to debug and troubleshoot network, performance and software issues
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, with 24-hour on-call pager and weekend work expected
• Strong verbal and written communication skills

Desired skills:

• Experience with IBM AIX OS
• Experience in supporting and administration of SLES11 running HANA DB
• Experience on AIX virtualization, Install upgrade and configure VIO servers and clients, AIX PowerHA clustering
• Familiarity with tools like BladeLogic, DNT, ESM, vSphere client
• Exposure to SAP product suite
• Broad knowledge of IBM Power servers, DB2 Database, SAP Core financial applications, Netapp Filer storage, Cisco based networks, SAP BWA application appliances, or SAP HANA database technology

Pay range: $63.68 - $71.68 per hour
