Snowflake Data Engineer – ITAR ProjectRole Overview
We are seeking a skilled Snowflake Data Engineer to join an International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) project team. The role is responsible for designing, building, validating, and maintaining scalable Snowflake data pipelines and solutions that comply with ITAR requirements. The ideal candidate will bring strong hands-on expertise in Snowflake, core SQL, cloud-based ETL, Python, GitHub, Control-M, Redwood orchestration, and secure data-engineering practices.
Eligibility Requirements
·Must be a U.S. citizen and must not hold dual citizenship with another country.
·Must satisfy all applicable ITAR compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Snowflake Data Modelling and Engineering
·Design and implement efficient Snowflake data models that support ITAR-regulated workloads.
·Optimize schema designs for performance, scalability, and maintainability.
·Build, validate, and maintain reliable Snowflake data pipelines and solutions.
ETL Development and Orchestration
·Develop ETL processes using Informatica Intelligent Cloud Services (IICS) to extract, transform, and load data from multiple sources into Snowflake.
·Maintain data quality, accuracy, and integrity throughout ETL pipelines.
·Support workflow orchestration using Control-M and Redwood.
Snowflake Configuration and Performance
·Configure and optimize Snowflake capabilities such as clustering, materialized views, automatic scaling, data retention, data sharing, zero-copy cloning, and resource monitoring.
·Monitor pipeline and query performance, identify bottlenecks, and tune SQL and processing workflows for efficiency and cost control.
·Write and optimize complex SQL code as part of daily data-operations activities.
Compliance, Security, and Validation
·Ensure that all data-processing activities comply with ITAR regulations.
·Implement appropriate security controls and encryption mechanisms to protect sensitive data.
·Validate data rules developed by the engineering team and confirm that outputs meet defined quality standards.
Collaboration and Delivery
·Work with data scientists, analysts, IT professionals, and other cross-functional stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver robust data solutions.
·Coordinate effectively with offshore and onsite teams across time zones.
·Deliver assigned work on schedule and respond flexibly to business-critical ad hoc requests.
Documentation, Support, and Continuous Improvement
·Create and maintain documentation for data models, pipelines, ETL processes, operational procedures, and compliance controls.
·Investigate and resolve data-related issues promptly, providing support to end users when required.
·Stay current with Snowflake capabilities and engineering best practices, and recommend improvements to the existing data platform.
Required Qualifications
·8–15 years of relevant technology and business experience.
·Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
·Proven experience as a Snowflake Data Engineer, preferably in an ITAR-regulated environment.
·Strong hands-on expertise in Snowflake, SQL, data modelling, and IICS-based ETL development.
·Daily experience writing, tuning, and optimizing SQL for efficient data operations.
·Working knowledge of Python, GitHub, Control-M, and Redwood orchestration.
·Familiarity with ITAR regulations and compliance requirements.
·Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, communication, and collaboration.
·Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a distributed team.
Preferred Credentials
·Relevant Snowflake certifications, such as SnowPro or SnowPro Advanced: Architect.
