Position Summary
Keriton is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Platform & Infrastructure to help build and support the core software and cloud infrastructure that powers our products.
This is a highly collaborative role that combines backend software engineering with cloud infrastructure, DevOps, automation, and operational support. You’ll develop APIs, build cloud environments using Infrastructure as Code, improve deployment pipelines, automate operational processes, and help ensure our platform is secure, reliable, and scalable.
As a cross-functional engineer, you’ll work across multiple areas of the technology stack, partnering closely with software engineers, mobile developers, QA, product management, and implementation teams to deliver reliable software and cloud infrastructure.
This role is expected to operate with a high degree of autonomy, lead technical initiatives, influence architecture decisions, and mentor other engineers through technical leadership and collaboration.

What You’ll Do
Backend Development
- Design, develop, and maintain backend APIs and services.
- Build scalable REST APIs that support Keriton’s web and mobile applications.
- Develop backend functionality using Node.js, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
- Design and optimize database interactions and business logic.
- Troubleshoot production issues and improve application performance.
- Contribute to React Native mobile applications and Angular/React web applications when additional engineering support is needed.
Cloud Infrastructure & DevOps
- Build and maintain cloud infrastructure using Terraform.
- Provision and manage environments primarily within Microsoft Azure, with awareness of AWS environments where applicable.
- Improve and maintain GitLab CI/CD pipelines for automated builds, testing, and deployments.
- Automate infrastructure and operational tasks wherever possible.
- Manage application configuration, secrets, and environment provisioning.
- Implement monitoring, alerting, logging, and operational dashboards.
- Assist with production deployments and release management.
Platform Engineering
- Improve the reliability, scalability, and security of Keriton’s platform.
- Participate in architecture discussions and technical planning.
- Collaborate with engineers to improve development workflows and tooling.
- Assist with security improvements, vulnerability remediation, and platform maintenance.
- Support disaster recovery, backup strategies, and high availability initiatives.
- Participate in an engineering on-call rotation and production incident response process.
Quality & Testing
- Build automated tests alongside production code.
- Expand test coverage across backend services and infrastructure components.
- Help improve engineering quality through automated testing and validation.
Technical Leadership
- Participate in architecture reviews and technical decision-making.
- Identify systemic risks and proactively recommend long-term solutions.
- Influence engineering best practices across development, testing, deployment, and operations.
- Lead technical investigations and root-cause analysis for complex production issues.
- Help mentor engineers through code reviews, technical discussions, and collaboration.
Healthcare Technology Responsibility
- Develop solutions that support safe, reliable, and auditable clinical workflows used in neonatal and pediatric care environments.
- Consider system reliability, data integrity, and patient safety implications when designing software and infrastructure.
- Support compliance, security, and audit requirements associated with healthcare technology.

Qualifications

Experience
- 7+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Experience delivering and operating production SaaS applications in cloud-hosted environments.

Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience.
- Strong experience building backend services using TypeScript, Node.js, and modern API frameworks such as Fastify.
- Strong SQL skills and experience working with PostgreSQL.
- Experience designing and managing cloud infrastructure in Azure using Terraform.
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitLab.
- Experience deploying and operating containerized applications using Docker Compose and/or Docker Swarm.
- Experience writing automation and deployment tooling using Python.
- Experience implementing automated testing practices using frameworks such as Vitest, Jest, or similar testing platforms.
- Familiarity with Linux systems and command-line environments.
- Experience using Git and collaborative development workflows.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple technical priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Partner with implementation and customer-facing teams to identify and solve operational challenges.

- Experience working with healthcare or HIPAA-compliant applications.
- Experience working with clinical workflow systems, healthcare operations, neonatal care environments, or hospital software platforms.
- Understanding of patient safety principles and regulated healthcare environments.
- Experience with React Native mobile application development.
- Experience with Angular and/or React web application development.
- Experience with Kubernetes or container orchestration platforms.
- Experience with infrastructure security, IAM, networking, and secrets management.
- Familiarity with monitoring and observability platforms such as Datadog, Grafana, Prometheus, CloudWatch, or Azure Monitor.
- Experience working in Agile software development environments.
- Experience building CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or similar tools.
