Overview

Microsoft’s Observability & Intelligent Cloud team is reimagining how large-scale cloud services stay reliable in the AI era. We build intelligent platforms that help prevent incidents, detect failures earlier, accelerate diagnosis and mitigation, and reduce operational effort across Microsoft services.

Our work spans the full reliability lifecycle, from telemetry and anomaly detection toAI-powered diagnosis, intelligent automation, and operational experiences. We are also transforming how engineering and operations are done by embedding AI into everyday workflows, enabling engineers to investigate issues faster, automate repetitive tasks, and turn operational knowledge and data into actionable insights.

You will help build secure, scalable platforms that protect customers while advancing the use of AI across both our products and our engineering practices.

Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others, and collaborate to realize our shared goals. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.

Responsibilities
  • Own the design and delivery of major platform capabilities across observability, detection,AI-powered diagnosis and mitigation, operational experiences, and AI evaluation.

  • Lead architecture and implementation of scalable, secure, observable, and maintainable services that support Microsoft-scale live-site operations.

  • BuildAI-powered diagnosis capabilities that reason across telemetry, incidents, service knowledge, and operational context to accelerate root-cause identification and guide mitigation.

  • Develop intelligent automation forincident investigation, troubleshooting, alert correlation, mitigation, and operational decision-making, while maintaining appropriate safety and human oversight.

  • Drive AI transformation in day-to-day engineering, using AI to improve debugging, incident investigation, development, testing, operational analysis, and engineering productivity.

  • Identify opportunities to convert repetitive operational work and expert knowledge intoreusable AI-assisted workflows, agents, and automation.

  • Collaborate with product, engineering, and reliability teams to identify high-impact customer and operational problems and translate them into durable platform solutions.

  • Use incident data, service-health signals, and AI evaluation results to prioritize investments and demonstrate measurable improvements in reliability, diagnosis effectiveness, and engineering efficiency.

  • Mentor engineers through architecture and design reviews, debugging, operational readiness, andeffective adoption of AI-assisted engineering practices.

  • Improve platform adoption through reusable frameworks, APIs, playbooks, onboarding experiences, and self-service capabilities.

  • Help shape the long-term technical strategy forAI-powered operations, agentic diagnosis, closed-loop service protection, safe automation, and operational excellence.
