About the Role:

Walmart’s Catalog organization is seeking aSenior Software Engineer with deep expertise inJava backend development to help build and scale critical services for our e-commerce platform. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining highly available, scalable microservices that power Walmart’s vast product catalog and associated services.

What You'll Do:

Design and implement backend services and APIs usingJava, Spring, and Kafka
Build and maintain distributed, event-driven systems supporting millions of daily transactions
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define system architecture and ensure alignment with business goals
Develop and optimize data pipelines and streaming services usingKafka and potentiallySpark
Ensure code quality through rigorous testing, CI/CD processes, and code reviews
Participate in performance tuning and troubleshooting of distributed systems
Work withKubernetes andGitHub for deployment automation and source control management

Must-Have Skills:

Strong proficiency inJava (8+) andSpring Framework (Spring Boot, Spring MVC)
Experience withApache Kafka for building streaming and event-driven systems
Hands-on experience withCassandra or other NoSQL databases
Solid understanding of microservices architecture and RESTful APIs
Experience working withCI/CD pipelines and GitHub workflows
Familiarity with container orchestration usingKubernetes

Good to Have:

Experience withApache Spark for real-time data processing
Knowledge of performance services and tuning distributed systems
Experience with additional NoSQL databases
Cloud platform experience (AWS, GCP, or Azure)

The annual salary range for this position is $117,000.00-$234,000.00
