Description:
The Torque Team is seeking a Senior Software Engineer operating at or near a Lead Engineer level to help deliver, support, and strategically evolve the enterprise platform that enables secure, governed, data access across company.

We are prioritizing Software Engineers with Platform Engineering experience over traditional Data Engineers. The ideal candidate builds and operates secure, scalable platform services (APIs, access management, infrastructure automation).
  • This role blends hands-on engineering with technical leadership.
  • The successful candidate will not only build and support platform capabilities but will also help determine the most effective and efficient way to deliver them — thinking beyond individual tickets or teams to the enterprise-wide scale, security, governance, and sustainability of these platforms.
  • A technical coding assessment is part of the interview process, and candidates must be able to code hands-on — this is non-negotiable.

Key Responsibilities:
Delivery & Support
  • Design, build, test, and support — secure, governed, API-driven data access capabilities.
  • Build APIs, automation services, and self-service tooling for platform consumers.
  • Troubleshoot production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and improve observability.
  • Translate ambiguous business needs into scalable, enterprise-ready solutions.
  • Contribute to reusable engineering patterns and platform standards.
Communication, Engagement & Availability
  • The Torque Team is primarily NOT co-located, and the majority of collaboration happens through virtual meetings and chat. As a result, strong communication and engagement habits are considered a core job requirement. These skills are as important as technical ability when screening candidates.
  • Must be an active, engaged participant in virtual meetings — camera on, prepared, and contributing rather than passively attending.
  • Must proactively participate/communicate rather than waiting to be asked, since there is no hallway conversation to catch issues informally.
  • Must be comfortable driving and participating in technical discussions, design reviews, and troubleshooting sessions over Teams/virtual channels.

Strategic & Leadership Expectations
Beyond day-to-day delivery, this engineer is expected to act as a technical leader for the platform portfolio:
  • Evaluate solution options for scalability, security, supportability, and enterprise-wide impact
  • Identify the most effective and efficient way to deliver, favoring standardization, automation, and self-service over one-off fixes.
  • Lead code reviews, design reviews, and pairing.
  • Partner with Product Management, Architecture, Cybersecurity, and consuming product teams to balance speed with long-term platform health.

Requirement:
  • Minimum Bar
  • Engineering Profile
  • Must be a Software Engineer with Platform Engineering experience — not a traditional Data Engineer
  • Overall Experience
  • 5+ years in Software, Cloud, or Platform Engineering

Required Technical Skills:

Skills:
