Product Manager – PowerEdge Platform Planner
We are seeking a highly strategic and technically grounded PowerEdge Platform Planner who can support platform planning and act as a backup for Power commodity planning.
The PowerEdge Platform Planner is responsible for planning, coordinating, and driving the end-to-end platform lifecycle for Dell PowerEdge server platforms. This role partners with engineering, product management, operations, supply chain, procurement, finance, and regional stakeholders to translate business requirements into executable platform plans that support new product introductions through ideation thru Concept and Define phases, readiness, business cases and transitions to in-market teams.
The role also serves as a backup for Power commodity planning, supporting the planning and coordination of power-related components such as PowerShelf, battery backup units (BBUs), power distribution units (PDUs), power supplies, and associated infrastructure.
The ideal candidate combines deep understanding of datacenter infrastructure, hardware portfolio management, supply chain and platform planning, and cross-functional execution. They will serve as the connective tissue between engineering, architecture, datacenter, supply chain, finance, and business stakeholders to ensure infrastructure solutions are aligned with capacity growth, cost efficiency, reliability, sustainability, and AI workload demands.
The successful candidate is a systems thinker who can connect technology evolution, business priorities, and operational realities into a coherent infrastructure portfolio strategy. They are equally comfortable planning new platforms, power distribution, portfolio economics, and long-range investment planning, while driving alignment across diverse stakeholders to enable the next generation of datacenter infrastructure.
PowerEdge Platform Planning
· Own and maintain platform plans across the product lifecycle, from early concept and development.
· Translate product strategy, customer demand, roadmap requirements, and regional needs into platform-level plans, milestones, assumptions, and dependencies.
· Coordinate platform readiness across engineering, product management, supply chain, manufacturing, procurement, finance, quality, and field organizations.
· Develop and maintain demand, capacity, supply, and inventory assumptions for PowerEdge platforms and related configurations.
· Identify platform risks, constraints, gaps, and interdependencies; drive mitigation plans and communicate status to stakeholders and leadership.
· Support new product introduction planning, including prototype, qualification and definition
· Partner with configuration and bill-of-materials teams to ensure platform plans align with product architecture, component availability, and customer requirements.
· Support platform cost, margin, standardization, reuse, and complexity-reduction initiatives.
· Track key performance indicators, including forecast accuracy, readiness, supply coverage, inventory exposure, etc.
· Prepare executive-level updates, decision materials, and recommendations for platform reviews and business planning forums.
· Maintain planning documentation, operating mechanisms, dashboards, and governance routines.
· Ability to operate in ambiguity — navigating pre-RTS products, evolving architectures, constrained supply environments, and shifting customer requirements with strategic problem-solving and execution discipline
Backup Power Commodity Planning
· Provide backup coverage for Power commodity planning activities, including PowerShelf, BBU, PDU, power supply, cabling, and related power infrastructure components.
· Support demand planning, supply and capacity reviews, allocation decisions, inventory analysis, and lifecycle planning for power commodities.
· Monitor component availability, supplier constraints, lead times, obsolescence risks, and demand changes that may affect PowerEdge platform execution.
· Coordinate with commodity managers, suppliers, engineering, operations, and supply chain teams to resolve shortages, excess inventory, substitutions, and continuity risks.
· Support readiness assessments for new power components and ensure alignment with platform launch and deployment requirements.
· Maintain backup planning files, assumptions, reports, and escalation paths to enable seamless continuity during primary planner absences.
· Participate in power commodity reviews and provide clear status, risks, action items, and recommendations.
Required Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, operations, engineering, business, or a related discipline; equivalent experience may be considered.
· Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related discipline
· 12+ years of experience in product planning, supply chain planning, operations, program management, commodity management, or a related function.
· Experience supporting complex technology products, server platforms, data center infrastructure, or hardware supply chains.
· Strong understanding of demand planning, capacity planning, lifecycle management, new product introduction, and supply-risk mitigation.
· Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, dependencies, and stakeholders in a fast-paced global environment.
· Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and presentation skills.
· Ability to work effectively across engineering, product management, procurement, manufacturing, finance, and operations teams.
· Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to executive and non-technical audiences.
· Proven success influencing stakeholders without direct authority
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience with Dell PowerEdge platforms or comparable enterprise server products.
· Experience with power infrastructure or related commodities, including PowerShelf, BBUs, PDUs, power supplies, rack-level power distribution, or data center power systems.
· Experience with supply and demand planning systems, product lifecycle management tools, or business intelligence dashboards.
· Familiarity with server configurations, bills of material, component qualification, product transitions, and end-of-life processes.
· Experience operating in a global, matrixed organization.
· APICS, CPIM, PMP, or comparable certification.
Core Competencies
· Strategic and end-to-end thinking
· Data-driven planning and decision-making
· Cross-functional influence and collaboration
· Risk identification and mitigation
· Ownership and accountability
· Clear executive communication
· Operational rigor and attention to detail
· Adaptability and continuous improvement
