We are looking for an experiencedMEP Engineer 3 to join our team in Nashville, Tennessee! This role is ideal for a construction or engineering professional with experience in mechanical and electrical systems, preconstruction, cost estimating, subcontractor coordination, and commissioning activities.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting project planning, quality control, value engineering, and the successful delivery of commercial construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop mechanical and electrical (M/E) budget estimates based on project requirements and schematic design documents.
- Review MEP design documents, plans, drawings, and specifications to identify potential constructability and quality issues.
- Evaluate MEP systems and recommend cost-effective solutions and value engineering opportunities.
- Coordinate mechanical and electrical scopes of work during the bidding process.
- Support bid analysis, subcontractor evaluation, and selection.
- Develop MEP system sequencing requirements and provide input on project schedules.
- Conduct job site inspections to ensure compliance with project specifications, quality standards, and schedules.
- Review and approve shop drawings and submittals before submission to the design team.
- Support commissioning activities, including pre-functional checklists, functional testing, and commissioning documentation.
- Identify and resolve deficiencies while ensuring project requirements are met.
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to continuous process improvement.
- Promote a safe, collaborative, inclusive, and quality-focused work environment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related field.
- Equivalent relevant experience may be considered in lieu of the degree requirement.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, drawings, and specifications.
- Working knowledge of construction management practices and MEP systems.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Strong written and verbal communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
- Valid and unrestricted driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of construction and/or engineering experience.
- Experience in commercial construction, MEP estimating, preconstruction, bid analysis, and commissioning.
- Familiarity with construction scheduling, shop drawings, quality control, and subcontractor coordination.
- Experience mentoring junior engineers or construction professionals.
