Grade Level: Hourly
Pay: $17.50/hour
Reports To: Supervisor, Unit Manager, Assistant Manager and/or Manager; dotted-line reporting to Senior Membership Leadership
Schedule: Must be able to work weekends and holidays; weekday hours also available
Hours: 9:00 AM – Closing, dependent on weather and guest attendance; schedule subject to change through the spring and summer
Position Summary
The Senior Membership Associate is responsible for driving membership sales, providing guest engagement, and serving as a key resource for the Admissions team. This role functions as both a sales leader and mentor to frontline staff, ensuring best practices in membership promotion while maintaining smooth operational flow. The Senior Membership Associate also plays a vital role in training, troubleshooting, and communicating sales standings to onsite management and senior membership leadership.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Sales & Service
• Actively engage guests to promote and sell memberships and admissions products by communicating in a friendly, efficient, and effective manner.
• Handle membership inquiries, answer questions, and explain membership benefits and offerings.
• Process new and renewal membership sales.
• Process all forms of payment through the point-of-sale system, adhering to all WCS cash handling policies.
• Highlight membership benefits and identify opportunities to convert guests into members.
• Assist staff members in developing effective sales and membership promotion techniques.
• Communicate daily membership sales standings and opportunities with onsite management.
Leadership & Training
• Serve as a mentor and resource for Admissions staff regarding membership products, sales techniques, and guest interactions.
• Provide operational support and reinforce best practices related to membership sales and guest service.
• Take an active role in the training and development of new staff members.
• Assist management in communicating membership initiatives and promotional opportunities.
• Participate in monthly check-ins with senior membership leadership to discuss performance, trends, and operational concerns.
Operations
• Provide superior service to guests, including maintaining general knowledge of park attractions, amenities, and membership offerings.
• Answer guest questions and find ways to create a positive and educational guest experience.
• Facilitate entry for guests waiting to enter the park, rides, and attractions, using safety as a guide when directing pedestrian traffic.
• Ensure that all guests entering the park, rides, and attractions possess the appropriate ticket type and/or membership with the appropriate expiration date and ensure accurate scanning of all ticket types.
• Direct guests seeking stroller parking to the appropriate locations and assist in the cleaning and distribution of strollers and wheelchairs.
• Remain at assigned post(s) for long periods of time and may be required to travel long distances to other locations within the park as instructed by management.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned work areas.
• In the absence of a lead, assist in troubleshooting guest service, operational, membership, and employee issues.
• Address and resolve membership-related concerns, including account lookups, pricing discrepancies, and minor system errors.
• Ensure all membership sales, ticket transactions, and guest interactions align with established SOPs and institutional goals.
• Assist the team in carrying out any additional operational duties as assigned.
Internal Qualification Requirements
• Minimum age of 18 years old.• Previous experience as an Admissions Sales Associate at WCS or a related venue preferred.
• Previous experience in sales, guest services, membership sales, or a similar customer-facing role preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to confidently engage guests.
• Customer service oriented.
• Ability to mentor and support team members in a fast-paced environment.
• Familiarity with point-of-sale systems and ability to troubleshoot minor technical issues.
• Basic verbal, written, computer, mathematical, and communication skills.
• Must be comfortable handling cash and equivalents; previous cash handling experience preferred.
• Proactive, outgoing, and solution-oriented with the ability to multitask.
• Dependability and reliability.
• Ability to frequently move objects weighing up to 25 pounds, including but not limited to boxes of maps and signs.
• Ability to stay outdoors for long periods of time in a variety of weather conditions.
