Make a Meaningful Impact at the Intersection of Healthcare and Behavioral Health

Are you a passionate BCBA looking for an opportunity to make a lasting difference for individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD)? Upstate Caring Partners is seeking a Temporary Senior Medical BCBA to play a critical role in transforming how individuals with complex behavioral and medical needs are supported across hospital, crisis, and community settings.

In this unique and highly collaborative position, you'll work alongside medical professionals, crisis teams, and community providers to ensure individuals receive compassionate, evidence-based care when they need it most. From supporting patients in emergency departments and inpatient units to developing behavior support strategies and facilitating successful transitions back into the community, your expertise will directly improve outcomes and quality of life.

Why This Role Matters

This is more than a traditional BCBA position. You will serve as a clinical leader helping bridge the gap between acute healthcare and community-based services for individuals with IDD. Your work will help:

Core Responsibilities

  • Identify and assess individuals with IDD in emergency departments, inpatient settings, stabilization units, and mobile crisis environments.
  • Provide on-site behavioral consultation, crisis intervention, de-escalation support, and functional behavior assessments.
  • Partner with physicians, nurses, therapists, and clinical teams to develop effective behavior support plans and treatment strategies.
  • Deliver training and consultation to hospital and crisis staff on IDD-specific care and evidence-based behavioral interventions.
  • Coordinate discharge planning and ensure seamless transitions to community supports and services.
  • Collect and analyze behavioral data to evaluate progress and improve outcomes.
  • Provide supervision and mentorship for BCBAs, RBTs, and clinical staff pursuing professional development and certification.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Applied Behavior Analysis, Psychology, Special Education, or related field
  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification
  • Minimum 7 years of related experience
  • Experience supporting individuals with IDD and complex behavioral needs
  • Strong communication, clinical decision-making, and collaboration skills
  • Valid New York State Driver's License and reliable transportation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Licensed Behavior Analyst (LBA)
  • Doctoral degree
  • Experience in healthcare, hospital, behavioral health, crisis intervention, or emergency settings
