Senior Mechanical Engineer
Overview
The Senior Mechanical Engineer leads mechanical design on complex programs for our clients across consumer, medical, mobility, and industrial categories, turning design intent into robust, manufacturable hardware that meets product requirements. The role works closely with industrial designers, electrical and embedded software engineers, project managers, and clients from early architecture through production transfer.Β
Where needed, the Senior Mechanical Engineer serves as project manager, owning scope, schedule, budget, and client communication. The role also helps set the engineering standard for the team by mentoring other engineers.
This role reports to the Lead Mechanical Engineer and suits an experienced mechanical engineer from a product development environment who enjoys both solving complex technical problems and raising the standard of rigor for the team.
Engineering and Program Leadership
- Develop mechanical architecture from concept through production
- Serve as project manager where needed, owning scope, budget, and schedule
- Translate user needs and design intent into product requirements
- Develop production-intent CAD across many manufacturing methods
- Apply first principles thinking to solve novel technical problems
- Apply DFM/DFA, partnering with suppliers on tooling and process
- Perform tolerance stack-ups, GD&T, and engineering analysis
- Build prototypes and test fixtures to validate concepts early
- Plan and execute verification and validation (V&V) testing
- Support pilot builds, manufacturing ramp-up, and line debugging
- Resolve integration challenges with ID, electrical, and embedded software
- Lead technical client communications and design reviews
- Support design controls on regulated programs
- Manage engineering tasks across concurrent programs
Technical Excellence & Mentorship
- Mentor engineers on design, analysis, and documentation day to day
- Champion first principles thinking
- Hold design reviews for your programs and join them for others'

- Inform the Lead Mechanical Engineer on team growth and performance
What Success Looks Like
- Architectures are sound, well reasoned, and clear to the team
- Decisions rest on first principles math and physics, not assumptions
- Designs meet requirements while preserving design intent
- Risks are addressed early through analysis and testing
- V&V testing confirms requirements and user needs are met
- Production ramps smoothly, with issues debugged quickly
- Programs you manage are delivered on scope, schedule, and budget
- Clients feel informed and confident in the technical direction
- Cost, timeline, and features are weighed to propose the best path forward
- Other engineers grow through consistent feedback and mentorship
