About the Role

Alpha is continuing to expand its capabilities across the RIA and independent wealth market, an increasingly important segment that includes scaled RIAs, independent private wealth firms, and the technology and platform providers that support them. We are looking for a Senior Manager who brings deep, hands-on knowledge of how these firms operate and can pair that industry expertise with strong consulting capabilities. This individual will play a leadership role across client delivery, business development, and the continued build-out of Alpha’s RIA & Independent Wealth capabilities. The role is intended for someone who can quickly become a trusted advisor to clients, lead complex transformation engagements, and bring a strong point of view on the strategic, operating model, and technology issues shaping independent wealth management. The ideal candidate will have developed this expertise either through significant consulting experience focused on the RIA and independent wealth market or through meaningful operating experience within an RIA, independent wealth manager, wealth platform, or similar organization, combined with strong transformation and problem-solving capabilities.

As a Senior Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Managing project execution and teams of consultants to ensure the successful delivery of client engagements, including planning the day-to-day work of the team, facilitating client interviews and workshops, structuring client deliverables, and ensuring Alpha’s standards for quality are met
  • Bringing deep subject matter expertise in RIAs and independent wealth firms, including their operating models, advisor and client experiences, investment platforms, technology ecosystems, and middle and back-office capabilities
  • Advising clients on strategic and transformational topics such as target operating model design, technology strategy and modernization, advisor productivity, client experience, investment platform transformation, managed accounts, data, workflow, and AI-enabled operating models
  • Acting as a senior client advisor who can connect business challenges to practical operating model and technology implications
  • Supporting Alpha’s business development by identifying client needs, shaping propositions, driving the creation of client proposals, authoring thought leadership, and maintaining strong relationships with past and prospective clients
  • Helping build Alpha’s RIA & Independent Wealth capabilities, including developing market perspectives, reusable intellectual property, propositions, target account strategies, and thought leadership
  • Maintaining a strong understanding of the wealth technology ecosystem, including portfolio management and trading, CRM, financial planning, advisor workspaces, reporting, data, alternatives, workflow, and orchestration capabilities
  • Maintaining a strong understanding of trends shaping independent wealth management, including consolidation and scale, advisor platform evolution, AI, managed accounts, alternatives, changing client expectations, and the continued modernization of wealth technology ecosystems
  • Creating a culture of continuous learning for the team and clients and actively mentoring team members to develop their skillsets as they progress in their careers
  • Collaborating across Alpha’s Wealth Management and broader Asset & Wealth Management capabilities to bring an RIA and independent wealth perspective into areas such as investments, alternatives, data, technology, operations, AI, and client experience
  • Contributing to the wider Alpha community by making innovative and proactive contributions to one or more of Alpha’s business management or practice areas

Experience & Skills

At Alpha FMC, we welcome candidates from all backgrounds and career journeys. We value diverse perspectives, transferable skills, and non-linear paths, and we recognize that great talent comes in many forms. Even if your experience doesn’t align with every qualification in the job description, we encourage you to apply.

For this role, we are specifically seeking someone with meaningful depth in the RIA and independent wealth market who can bring immediate subject matter expertise alongside strong consulting and leadership capabilities.

The ideal candidate will bring a combination of the following:

  • At least 7 years of relevant experience within wealth management consulting, an RIA, independent wealth manager, wealth technology or platform provider, or an in-house strategy, transformation, or program management role
  • Deep, hands-on experience with RIAs and independent wealth firms, with a demonstrated understanding of how these organizations operate across the front, middle, and back office
  • Sustained experience working within or advising RIAs, independent wealth firms, or closely adjacent wealth platforms, rather than limited exposure through a small number of individual projects
  • Strong knowledge of the RIA and independent wealth operating model, including areas such as advisor and client servicing, investments, portfolio management and trading, operations, custody, financial planning, reporting, and technology
  • Knowledge and a personal point of view on key trends shaping independent wealth management, including consolidation and scale, advisor productivity, AI, technology modernization, managed accounts, alternatives, and evolving client expectations
  • Excellent consulting and problem-solving skills, with familiarity with recognized consulting frameworks and techniques and experience in research, quantitative analysis, structured problem solving, and executive communication
  • Proven track record of building and sustaining lasting relationships with C-suite executives and the ability to influence key stakeholders. This should include examples of client account management and supporting business development
  • Operating model design and implementation experience impacting business processes and technology solutions across areas such as investments, advisor platforms, client servicing models, distribution, middle and back-office operations, or data and technology
  • Familiarity with core technology platforms used across wealth management firms, including CRM, portfolio management, trading, financial planning, reporting, advisor workspace, workflow, and data platforms. Experience with platforms such as Salesforce, Addepar, Orion, Tamarac, Envestnet, and similar wealth technology solutions is preferred
  • Ability to move comfortably between strategy and execution, helping clients define a future-state vision while understanding the practical implications for technology, process, organization, and implementation
  • Intellectual capacity and ability to think in new and innovative ways to understand complex issues and develop creative solutions
  • Ability to mentor and coach team members, with a focus on team achievement rather than individual goals
  • Flexibility to travel if required
