Job Description
As aSenior Managerleading the Executive Technology Supportfunction, the team responsible for the technology experience of our 110 officers and their executive assistants, roughly 150 people in total. This is a hands-on leadership role, not a purely managerial one. The person in this seat runs a team of three support technicians while personally carrying the most complex, sensitive, and high-visibility requests that come from our most senior leaders. We are looking for a player-coach: a seasoned technologist who is still fluent enough to fix things personally, and a leader who can set the standard, develop a team, and build durable trust with demanding executive stakeholders. Success in this role is measured less by ticket throughput than by whether our officers experience technology as something that simply works, and whether the escalations that once reached senior leadership quietly stop happening. This role is hybrid, which means you will be required to work on site Monday through Thursday at the Best Buy corporate office in Richfield, Minnesota. You can work virtually from home or another non‑Best Buy location on Friday. The recruiter or hiring manager will provide more details during the hiring process.
What you’ll do
- Serve as the primary owner and trusted advisor for the most senior and service-sensitive executives, building deep knowledge of their preferences, work styles, and travel patterns to proactively anticipate needs and deliver highly personalized support.
- Personally manage the most complex, confidential, and escalated issues, including support related to board meetings, investor calls, earnings activities, executive travel, and incidents involving sensitive strategic, financial, or personnel information.
- Own executive incidents end-to-end, coordinating across security, networking, collaboration, audio-visual, endpoint management, and external vendors to ensure seamless resolution without executive involvement.
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of three Executive Support Technicians, overseeing hiring, onboarding, performance management, career growth, and cross-training to ensure resilient, uninterrupted support coverage.
- Establish and manage service delivery standards, coverage models, and operational playbooks for meeting readiness, audio-visual support, device lifecycle management, travel preparedness, escalations, and extended-hours/on-call support.
- Drive continuous improvement through proactive executive readiness programs, standardized support practices, demand and capacity analysis, staffing recommendations, and close partnership with Information Security to protect high-value executive accounts and devices.
- 5+ years of experience in information technology, with a concentration in end-user computing, deskside, or enterprise support.
- 3+ years directly supporting executives, VIPs, or equivalent high-visibility stakeholders.
- 2+ years leading, supervising, or formally mentoring a technical support team.
- Deep hands-on technical capability across Windows and macOS, iOS and Android mobile devices, enterprise collaboration and conferencing platforms, audio-visual and meeting-room technology, and endpoint management tooling.
- Demonstrated composure and sound judgment under pressure, with a track record of maintaining professionalism and productive relationships with demanding, time-constrained stakeholders.
- Exceptional discretion and a history of handling confidential information appropriately.
- Clear, concise, executive-ready written and verbal communication, including the ability to explain technical matters without jargon and to deliver difficult messages calmly.
- Availability to work extended hours, participate in an on-call rotation, and respond to urgent issues outside standard business hours.
- Experience supporting a C-suite or board-level population in a large, distributed enterprise.
- Familiarity with identity and access management, multi-factor and phishing-resistant authentication, and privileged access practices for high-value accounts.
- Experience standing up or materially improving a support function, including defining service standards and reporting from the ground up.
- Working knowledge of IT service management practice, particularly incident ownership and escalation.
- Experience partnering closely with executive assistants as a primary stakeholder group.
