With a focus on India, KRAFTON is dedicated to nurturing the gaming and start-up ecosystem. In line with this commitment, KRAFTON initiated the KRAFTON India Gaming Incubator (KIGI) in October 2023. KIGI aims to support 6-10 teams annually, with program durations ranging from six months to one year. Additionally, KRAFTON India has invested over $150 million in the Indian market in the past two years. It has committed an additional $150 million to the Indian start-up ecosystem over the next three years.

[ ABOUT THE ROLE ]

As a Senior Legal Counsel at Krafton, you will play a pivotal role in providing strategic legal guidance and ensuring compliance across our various and expanding business functions. You will be responsible for handling corporate legal matters, regulatory compliance, intellectual property, commercial contracts, and dispute resolution. This role requires a deep understanding of entertainment and media, technology, and corporate laws, along with strong analytical and communication skills to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders. As Senior Legal Counsel, you will be part of a fast-growing legal department and will report directly to the Head of the Legal East Team.

[ REQUIREMENTS ]

• Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LL.B.) from a recognized university in India and licensed to practice law in India.
• Ideally 7–10 years of post-qualification experience, including meaningful experience at a leading law firm or as in-house counsel in a multinational corporation, preferably in media/entertainment/fintech or any other technology industry.
• Strong, well-rounded commercial contracting experience, particularly in technology, licensing, intellectual property, marketing and partnership arrangements, and a grounding in corporate law.
• Strong understanding and experience in highly regulated areas such as payments, e-commerce, data protection, content regulation, and telecommunications, and an understanding of the general legal and regulatory landscape for digital businesses in India.
• Able to work independently and handle day-to-day legal tasks.
• Flexibility to work with different time zones.
• Team player capable of working both independently and with others.
• Strong sense of customer support and excellent interpersonal/communication skills with the ability to distil complex legal analysis into clear, concise advice for non-lawyers. 
• Strategic mindset with the ability to manage complex legal issues and support multiple businesses with shifting priorities.
• Must have a sense of humor! A general interest in gaming is a plus.

[ RESPONSIBILITIES ]

• Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial contracts across the group, including service and vendor agreements, technology, platform and SaaS agreements, licensing agreements, content acquisition agreements, marketing and brand partnership agreements, publishing and development agreements, strategic collaborations, and data- privacy-related agreements.
• Track, research and advise on developments in Indian law affecting our businesses, including in online gaming, financial services/fintech, information technology and intermediary obligations, consumer protection, advertising, and translate them into clear, actionable guidance.
• Support the management of civil and criminal litigation and disputes.
• Respond to requests from law enforcement and investigative authorities.
• Oversee internal investigations and ensure policy alignment across the KRAFTON group.
• Support compliance functions, including employment, and protect and leverage the group's intellectual property, working closely with our global legal colleagues.
• Collaborate with HQ on global legal strategy and cross-border regulatory issues.
• Provide practical legal counsel across all levels of the organization and support global legal department operations, including translating legal concepts for business stakeholders and working closely with production, marketing, and business development teams.
• Actively engage in hands-on legal work where necessary to support business needs and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
• Build templates, playbooks and processes that help the legal team scale and make legal support faster and more consistent.
• Perform other relevant legal duties as assigned.
