Senior Java Engineer

Project Description

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer who is an expert, hands-on problem-solver and builder, adept at designing, developing, and deploying high-caliber Java applications. The role centers on microservices, messaging systems, and design systems, with strong technical depth required to solve complex, scenario-driven challenges and contribute to scalable, resilient, and high-performing system architecture.

Duties/Day to Day Overview

Advanced Development: Design, develop, and deploy enterprise-grade microservices and full-stack components using Core Java and Spring Boot, with primary emphasis on microservices architecture, messaging systems, and design systems.

Messaging & System Design: Build and integrate asynchronous, event-driven solutions using enterprise messaging platforms and contribute to reusable design systems, architectural standards, and scalable integration patterns.

Problem Solving & Optimization: Solve advanced scenario-based coding challenges by applying data structures, algorithms, and design patterns. Implement and tune multithreading, concurrency controls, Java memory usage, and application performance for high-throughput systems.

Production Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve production application downtime, slow response times, memory and performance issues, and failures across application, messaging, and database layers. Use logging and monitoring tools such as AppDynamics and the ELK stack to perform root-cause analysis.

Data & Caching: Apply database fundamentals, SQL and NoSQL querying, indexing and transaction concepts, and caching mechanisms such as Redis and Ehcache to support debugging, validation, and application performance.

Mentorship & Quality: Proactively mentor junior engineers through code reviews, technical guidance, and knowledge sharing. Ensure software quality, stability, maintainability, and adherence to engineering best practices.

System Integration: Contribute to design discussions involving messaging technologies such as Kafka, API and service integration patterns, and CI/CD pipelines.

Domain Expertise (Preferred): Develop solutions for the retail domain, particularly order management systems and e-commerce flows.

Top Requirements

(Must haves)

• 6+ years of hands-on experience in Java development.
• Strong proficiency in Java 8+, including multithreading, concurrency, collections, exception handling, JVM architecture, garbage collection, heap and stack behavior, memory leak analysis, and performance tuning.
• Deep hands-on experience designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining microservices using Spring Boot.
• Strong experience with enterprise messaging systems and event-driven architecture, including technologies such as Kafka or comparable messaging platforms.
• Demonstrated understanding of design systems, reusable architectural patterns, and scalable system design principles.
• Strong production-level troubleshooting experience, including resolving application downtime, slow responses, memory issues, service failures, and performance bottlenecks.
• Solid database fundamentals, including relational and NoSQL concepts, data modeling, indexing, transactions, query optimization, and SQL/NoSQL querying for debugging and validation.
• Experience with version control using Git and CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins.
• Familiarity with containerization technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes.
• Practical experience with caching frameworks such as Redis or Ehcache.
• Excellent problem-solving skills under pressure, with strong analytical and communication abilities.

Nice to Haves

• Hands-on experience with reactive programming in Java, using frameworks such as Project Reactor, Spring WebFlux, RxJava, or comparable technologies. This is a significant plus for Senior candidates.
• Working knowledge or demonstrable experience with content management systems such as Adobe Experience Manager (AEM).
• Knowledge of AI-assisted development tools, such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar tools, for code generation.
• Experience with unit testing, integration testing, and test automation frameworks.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms, including AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Prior exposure to large-scale enterprise content management deployments.
• Experience or strong interest in retail technology, order management systems, and e-commerce flows.
