The role
Return is looking for a Senior IFRS Specialist to lead and deliver the transition from Dutch GAAP to IFRS across the Return Group. Working closely with the Head of Finance, you will take ownership of the technical and practical implementation of IFRS, ensuring a structured and well-governed transition process.
You will work across Group Finance, local finance teams and external auditors to translate IFRS requirements into practical solutions, coordinate the transition and ensure consistent application across the international organization. You will play a key role in establishing a sustainable IFRS reporting framework that supports both the initial transition and ongoing financial reporting.
This is a hands-on role combining technical accounting expertise, project management and financial reporting implementation, offering the opportunity to play a key role in Return's transition to IFRS.
Key responsibilities
IFRS gap analysis: Lead the assessment of differences between Dutch GAAP and IFRS, identify financial reporting implications and determine the required transition adjustments.
Accounting policies and technical assessments: Develop proposed Group IFRS accounting policies, prepare technical accounting position papers and translate IFRS requirements into practical accounting and reporting guidance.
IFRS reporting and consolidation: Design the local GAAP to Group IFRS reporting approach, coordinate the required consolidation and reporting adjustments, and support the preparation and implementation of IFRS consolidated financial statements, including the opening balance sheet, comparative information and disclosures.
Project coordination: Take ownership of the IFRS transition plan, coordinate key milestones and deliverables, monitor progress and proactively identify risks and delays.
Implementation and knowledge transfer: Work with local finance teams to implement IFRS reporting processes, templates and controls, ensuring consistent application of Group accounting policies and supporting ongoing IFRS reporting.
Auditor coordination: Act as a key point of contact for external auditors, coordinating regular progress meetings, technical accounting discussions and quality assurance reviews.
What you bring
At least 8 years of relevant experience in financial reporting or technical accounting, ideally gained in a Big Four firm, IFRS advisory practice or international corporate environment.
Strong technical IFRS expertise, including Group accounting policies, consolidation, statutory reporting and financial reporting requirements.
Practical experience with IFRS implementation or GAAP conversion projects, including local GAAP to IFRS adjustments in an international, multi-entity environment.
Strong project management and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to independently drive deliverables, manage timelines and coordinate across different teams.
A hands-on, analytical and pragmatic approach, with the ability to translate complex accounting requirements into practical reporting solutions.
Excellent communication skills and fluency in English, both written and spoken.
Based in The Netherlands
Preferred Experience

Professional accounting qualifications such as RA, RC, CPA, ACCA or equivalent.
What we offer you
A unique opportunity to lead an end-to-end IFRS first-time adoption project within a growing international, multi-entity group.
The opportunity to make a direct and lasting contribution to Return's financial reporting framework, accounting policies and disclosures.
A collaborative and entrepreneurial working environment, alongside a skilled, passionate and committed team.
