Senior Home Care Assistant – South Ribble - Drivers Only

Red Rose Care
🇬🇧 United Kingdom
On-site
Senior
£14.38 – £15.02 / hour

Stepping up

As a Senior Home Care Assistant, you’ll still be out supporting people in their own homes, but you’ll also be someone the rest of the team looks to. You’ll work alongside our management team to keep care consistent and of a high standard, supporting and mentoring care team members along the way.

Full-time hours, varied shifts

This role is a minimum of 30 hours a week. Rather than a fixed round, you’ll work a mix of shifts set out on our weekly rota, along with every other weekend.

Because seniors support the whole service, this suits someone who’s comfortable with a varied week and wants the hours to match.

What you'd be doing

You’ll visit people in their own homes across South Ribble, providing hands-on care and support that’s individual to them, their routines and what matters most in their lives. Alongside this, you’ll take on additional senior responsibilities, including:

  • Mentoring, coaching and supporting Home Care Assistants
  • Carrying out spot checks and competency assessments
  • Reviewing care plans and risk assessments, including completing reviews with the people we support
  • Recognising and reporting changes in someone’s health, wellbeing or circumstances
  • Keeping accurate records of visits, observations and hours
  • Taking part in our on-call rota
  • Attending senior team meetings and ongoing training

Being on call

Seniors take turns on our on-call rota. When it’s your turn, you’ll be available by phone outside office hours to support the team - whether that’s a carer running late, a question about a visit, or someone who needs a steady voice to help them think a situation through.

Helping others grow

A big part of being a senior is helping newer team members build their confidence. Say a carer you’re supporting tells you they’re finding personal care difficult – you’d be the person who helps them work through it, in a way that’s right for them and for the person they’re caring for.

What you'd earn

  • Between £14.38 to £15.02 an hour, depending on the time of day you're working
  • Up to £29.20 an hour on bank holidays
  • On-call payment
  • Paid travel time between every visit
  • 45p per mile between visits

The rest of it

  • Guaranteed hourscontract of a minimum of 30 hours a week
  • Every other weekend
  • Fully funded qualifications in care
  • Additional annual leave for length of service (T&Cs apply)
  • £350 when you refer a friend who joins us
  • We pay for your Enhanced DBS check (T&Cs apply)
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Career progression into supervisory roles

What you'll bring

Ideally, you’ll have at least 2 years’ experience in care, with experience supporting people in their own homes particularly valuable. You’ll be confident, dependable and ready to lead by example, supporting both the people we care for and your fellow team members.

Above all, we’re looking for someone who is kind, reliable and genuinely cares about the people they support - and who can encourage others to provide that same standard of care.
