Senior Full Stack Developer β React / Data Applications
Function:Data Platform & Analytics
Location:Waltham, MA (Hybrid β preferably 2 days onsite per week; remote considered for exceptional candidates)
Contract:Initial 6 months, with potential extension
Interview:Virtual β Hiring Manager Hetal Panchal and 1β2 team members
Position Overview
Senior to Principal-level Full Stack Engineer with deep expertise in React and TypeScript to build modern, interactive data applications on its Microsoft Fabric data platform.
The initial project will enhance an early-stage application prototype supporting the Commercial organization. The successful candidate will help evolve this prototype into a scalable, production-ready application while establishing architecture, development standards, and best practices for future enterprise data applications.
This is a highly hands-on engineering role combining frontend application development, backend/API integration, and modern cloud analytics. The ideal candidate brings strong technical judgment, can independently drive architecture decisions, and enjoys building sophisticated applications that go beyond traditional business intelligence dashboards.
Key Responsibilities
Develop sophisticated, responsive, and interactive enterprise data applications using React and TypeScript.
Evolve an existing application prototype into a scalable, maintainable, production-ready solution.
Design and implement application architecture, reusable components, state management, and frontend development standards.
Build and integrate REST APIs using Python or Node.js to support application functionality.
Connect applications to Microsoft Fabric and other modern cloud analytics platforms.
Develop custom data visualizations and interactive analytics experiences using tools such as D3.js, Plotly, Recharts, and related libraries.
Collaborate with data engineers and analytics teams to consume existing data models, APIs, and platform services.
Evaluate when custom React applications are appropriate versus standard Power BI reporting.
Provide technical leadership, challenge architectural assumptions, and establish best practices for future data applications.
Explore integration of Power BI Embedded and GraphQL capabilities as the platform evolves.
Required Qualifications
Extensive, hands-on experience developing enterprise applications using React and TypeScript.
Strong understanding of modern frontend architecture, single-page applications, state management, component design, and complex UI/UX.
Demonstrated experience building data-intensive applications, analytics interfaces, or interactive data exploration tools.
Strong REST API development and integration experience.
Backend development experience using Python or Node.js.
Experience integrating applications with modern cloud data platforms such as Microsoft Fabric, Snowflake, Databricks, AWS analytics services, or comparable technologies.
Experience with custom data visualization, interactive charts, or advanced analytics interfaces.
Ability to independently make architectural decisions, establish engineering standards, and deliver solutions from early-stage prototypes.
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with data, analytics, and business stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
Direct experience with Microsoft Fabric, Fabric Lakehouse, or related Azure analytics services.
Power BI Embedded or integration of Power BI content within React applications.
GraphQL development or integration experience.
Experience with D3.js, Plotly, Recharts, geospatial visualization, or graph/network analytics.
Experience designing scalable enterprise data applications and reusable application frameworks.
Experience supporting commercial analytics or other business-critical enterprise applications.
Ideal Candidate
A senior or principal-level software engineer who is strongest in React and TypeScript, has built sophisticated data-rich enterprise applications, and can independently own application architecture and delivery.
The ideal candidate combines strong frontend engineering with backend/API expertise and experience integrating modern cloud data platforms. Direct Microsoft Fabric experience is beneficial but not mandatory for candidates with comparable platform experience and the ability to ramp up quickly.
This is not a traditional Power BI developer or data engineering position. The focus is building the application and API layer on top of Madrigal's existing data platform.
Contract Details
The initial engagement is six months, with the potential for extension based on project needs and performance. Candidates should be comfortable working in a hands-on senior engineering capacity, with a preference for two days per week onsite in Waltham, Massachusetts. Exceptional remote candidates may be considered.
