ABOUT THE ROLE
At H&M Group, we believe technology plays a key role in enabling creativity, sustainability, and scale across our brands. Our logistics technology landscape is central to that journey, enabling reliable, efficient, and increasingly automated warehouse operations across our global network.Â
We are now looking for a Senior Engineering Manager for Warehouse Technology, a new role within the Gray Box product area that supports technology in highly automated, omnichannel warehouses. This is an opportunity to lead engineering delivery across complex warehouse environments and help ensure that systems, automation, infrastructure, and partner solutions work effectively from end to end.Â
Please note, that this is a Senior Individual contributor role and will have the opportunity to lead through influence rather than formal staff responsibility.
ABOUT THE TEAM
As Senior Engineering Manager, you will take on a senior individual contributor role focused on leading engineering delivery rather than formal people management. You will drive the day-to-day technical execution of a large, distributed team during a major warehouse implementation phase and be accountable for delivery outcomes, while line management and direct people responsibilities remain with our competence managers.Â
Your mission is to create clarity across a complex technology landscape, align internal teams and external partners, and ensure that the solutions delivered meet our standards for security, reliability, supportability, and operational performance. You will work closely with the Product Manager and influence technical priorities through expertise, structure, and delivery leadership rather than through formal reporting lines.Â
The team currently includes more than 30 engineers distributed across Sweden, India, and Eastern Europe. Periodic travel and presence at warehouse locations, particularly in Eastern Europe, will be an important part of building context, supporting delivery, and enabling strong collaboration across teams and partners.Â
WHAT YOU WILL DOÂ
• Lead the daily engineering delivery of a large, distributed team across complex warehouse technology initiativesÂ
• Own end-to-end technical coherence across warehouse management, execution, automation, network, infrastructure, and partner-provided servicesÂ
• Partner with the Product Manager to align engineering priorities, product direction, and business outcomesÂ
• Ensure solutions align with H&M Group standards, security guidelines, and infrastructure guardrailsÂ
• Guide technical decisions involving SAP Extended Warehouse Management, warehouse execution technologies, automation, and systems integrationÂ
• Work directly with vendors and technology partners, creating transparency, clear expectations, and shared accountability for deliveryÂ
• Build strong relationships with internal core technology teams that provide enabling services, including network and infrastructure capabilitiesÂ
• Collaborate with warehouse leaders, business experts, and operational stakeholders to connect technology performance with business needsÂ
• Establish robust processes for KPI tracking, issue resolution, operational follow-up, and continuous improvement after go-liveÂ
• Provide visible and proactive leadership at warehouse sites when needed, helping the team move from learning and understanding into strong execution and deliveryÂ
WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH
You will be a part of the Warehouse Area under the Supply Chain Tech and work in close partnership with the Product Manager and collaborate with engineers, competence managers, internal core technology teams, warehouse leaders, business experts, vendors, and implementation partners. Â
WHO YOU ARE
We believe you are a senior engineering leader with hands-on experience delivering technology solutions in complex warehouses, logistics, or supply chain environments. You understand how warehouse operations, business processes, software systems, automation platforms, and infrastructure come together to create reliable end-to-end solutions at scale.Â
You likely bring experience in several of the following areas:Â
Warehouse & Supply Chain TechnologyÂ
Deep understanding of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), preferably SAP Extended Warehouse Management (SAP EWM)Â
Experience integrating SAP EWM with surrounding enterprise systems, automation platforms, and warehouse execution technologiesÂ
Knowledge of logistics, fulfillment, distribution center, or warehouse operations and the technology supporting themÂ
Experience supporting large-scale warehouse implementations, go-lives, or operational transformationsÂ
Understanding of warehouse execution processesÂ
Experience from warehouse automation technology including robotics, ASRS, and sortation systems
Systems Integration & Enterprise ArchitectureÂ
Strong experience in designing or governing integrations across multiple technology domainsÂ
Ability to understand and manage dependencies between business applications, automation systems, networks, infrastructure, and partner-provided solutionsÂ
Experience working with APIs, middleware, event-driven architectures, or enterprise integration platformsÂ
Understanding of technical governance, security requirements, infrastructure standards, and operational support modelsÂ
Engineering Delivery LeadershipÂ
Proven experience leading large, distributed engineering teams through complex delivery programsÂ
Experience coordinating engineers, consultants, vendors, and cross-functional stakeholders across multiple locations and time zonesÂ
Ability to drive engineering execution, technical decision-making, prioritization, risk management, and delivery outcomesÂ
Experience leading through influence in environments where formal people management responsibilities are separate from delivery leadershipÂ
Stakeholder & Partner ManagementÂ
Experience collaborating with Product Managers, business stakeholders, operations leaders, technology teams, and external partnersÂ
Ability to translate technical complexity into business impact and operational outcomesÂ
Strong vendor management skills with experience holding implementation partners accountable for delivery and service qualityÂ
