Summary of Role: 

GLOBALFOUNDRIES is looking for a highly motivated engineer to work in the Tape out organization, as an Engineer Frame Engineering located inSingapore. The successful candidate will support tape out operations activities that would vary from frame design for a range of technologies to process improvements for enhanced productivity and quality.  This role requires working with Frame worldwide and other engineers that use semiconductor manufacturing tools (i.e., lithography and metrology) and test tools in our Fabs.  The successful candidate would be engaging in continuous process improvement in the increasingly complex world of chip manufacturing by applying Failure Mode and Effect Analysis, structured problem-solving and driving actions to reduce risks.

Essential responsibilities

• Support daily tape-out operations, including facilitating technology frame requirements, frame structure layout and generation, ad-hoc change execution, work queue prioritization, and seamless work hand-off across global locations.
• Utilize and customize internally developed and commercial software tools to improve design process productivity, including generating input files that drive automation within the Fab and Mask House.
• Make timely decisions to hold, escalate, promote, or reject tape-out support issues in collaboration with Fab, Tape-out Logistics Integration, and Field Application Engineering (FAE) teams.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Application Engineering, Product Engineering, Release Management, and Design Enablement, to deliver a best-in-class customer tape-out experience.
• Partner closely with Fab and Technology Development (TD) teams to identify and implement solutions that improve operational efficiency, reduce costs, and shorten cycle times.
• Participate in the evaluation of business processes and identify opportunities for continuous improvement and automation to enhance team productivity and effectiveness.
• Ensure processes are well documented, with appropriate failure mode assessments, mitigation plans, and detection mechanisms in place.
• Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner while supporting Environmental, Health, Safety & Security (EHS&S) requirements, policies, and programs.

Required qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in EE/ECE/CSE/Physics/Mechanical.
• Working knowledge of Unix shells and interest/aptitude to learn domain-specific programming/scripting languages/data formats.
• Experience with Cadence Mask Compose is a big plus 
• Experience with Virtuoso environment and SKILL Programming, Device Layout Knowledge/Experience will be a plus
• Ability to communicate and work with a cross-geographic, multicultural global team
• Analytical problem solving and decision-making skills are basic requirements.
