Senior Embedded Software Engineer – Technical Lead

PGS Worldwide is seeking Senior Embedded Software Engineers – Technical Leads in Sterling Heights, Michigan for a one-year onsite contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company. These positions will support real-time embedded software development for advanced defense systems while providing technical leadership across the complete software engineering lifecycle. The role is approximately 60% hands-on software engineering and 40% software technical project leadership.

Required Skills

• Bachelor's degree in a STEM field.
• 4+ years of real-time embedded software development and/or software testing experience; 2+ years with a master's degree.
• Strong object-oriented software design experience.
• Strong C++ embedded software development experience.
• Experience providing technical direction to software development teams.
• Practical knowledge of software engineering processes and lifecycle management.
• Familiarity with CMMI.
• Working knowledge of Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS).
• Experience or working knowledge of Control Account Manager and/or Work Package Manager responsibilities.
• Familiarity with Ethernet communications.
• Contemporary software design and development experience.
• Strong communication, collaboration, presentation, and meeting-leadership skills.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret clearance.

Preferred Skills

• Active Secret clearance.
• Experience with RTOS and/or bare-metal real-time application development.
• Cybersecurity knowledge, particularly the Risk Management Framework and Authority to Operate process.
• Cybersecurity certification.
• Weapon-system experience.
• Combat vehicle systems experience.

What You'll Do

• Provide technical leadership for embedded software efforts supporting defense programs.
• Perform hands-on C++ embedded software design and development.
• Lead software engineering activities across requirements, architecture, design, implementation, unit testing, integration, and system testing.
• Evaluate software requirements against customer needs and contractual requirements.
• Coordinate technical activities with software architects and engineering leadership.
• Lead troubleshooting and multidisciplinary problem-solving efforts.
• Coordinate software cybersecurity activities.
• Monitor technical, cost, and schedule performance.
• Support EVMS reporting and Control Account or Work Package activities.
• Develop software schedules and build plans.
• Coordinate internal and external software-development resources.
• Support performance and development feedback for project personnel.
• Ensure software teams follow applicable engineering, quality, configuration-management, and safety processes.
• Support Software Quality Assurance and Software Configuration Management audits.
• Lead or support formal milestone reviews including SRR, PDR, CDR, and TRR.
• Present technical status, metrics, risks, issues, and opportunities to program leadership and government customers.

Work Schedule / Shift

• Full-time onsite in Sterling Heights, Michigan.
• 9/80 schedule.
• Typical working hours are approximately 8:00 AM–5:00 PM.
• Approximately 5% travel may be required.

Pay

• $55.57 per hour.
