Every minute matters in stroke treatment. Magnendo is developing robotic technology to make life-saving endovascular procedures faster, safer, and more accessible. By combining advanced robotics, magnetic navigation, and intelligent software, we are tackling one of the most technically demanding challenges in healthcare while aiming to expand access to advanced stroke care for patients around the world. Join us in shaping the future of endovascular intervention.
We’re looking for a Senior Embedded DevOps Engineer to lead the development of the tooling and infrastructure our software team uses to build, test, release and deploy software for our high performance medical-grade edge compute and robotics platform. As an early hire in this domain, you will be a critical part of the small, dedicated team we are assembling to bring our breakthrough technology from prototype to FDA-approved product.
You will:
Own and scale our edge compute development infrastructure, build systems, cross-compilation toolchains, and release engineering practices for our medical-grade edge compute and robotics platform
Build deterministic, reproducible build and test environments using containerization (Docker) and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/Ansible) to provision local developer workstations, build servers, and test lab nodes
Contribute to operating system architecture decisions (evaluating Linux variants like Yocto/Buildroot, QNX, or virtualization layers) for high-performance, real-time edge hardware
Architect robust CI/CD pipelines (using GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or similar) incorporating automated static analysis, unit/integration/system testing and release qualification
Develop automated Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) and test-fixture integration enabling seamless provisioning, test execution and shared hardware resource management across simulators and physical prototypes
Establish a secure software supply chain standardizing dependency management, packaging, versioning, artifact repositories and binary provenance (SBOMs)
Manage and automate software release and deploymentto dev, test and production target systems
Drive build-versus-buy decisionsfor platform tooling and provide technical leadership to software teams on best practices in DevOps infrastructure and release workflows
Collaborate closely with Systems, Software, and Quality teams to ensure the platform and development processes meet rigorous regulatory and traceability standards
You are:
5+ years of experience in DevOps, platform engineering, developer infrastructure or build/release engineering, with a proven track record of supporting embedded/edge software teams
Deeply knowledgeable about Linux/OS fundamentals, kernel configuration, and how custom distributions are built and maintained
Experienced building shared tools and infrastructureand evaluating, selecting, and packaging 3rd party frameworks and libraries used by software and algorithm development teamsÂ
Hands-on experience with embedded build systems and packaging, such as Yocto, Buildroot, or Debian packaging
Strong proficiency in cross-compilation and software-delivery workflows for resource-constrained or edge hardware targets
Fluency in Python/Bash/Go, with a track record of building robust internal tooling, automation and build scripts
Experienced with containerization and infrastructure management, utilizing Docker, container registries and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/Ansible) for reproducible environments
Experienced designing and scaling CI/CD pipelines(e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins) and managing artifact repositories (e.g., Artifactory, Nexus)
Knowledgeable in software supply-chain security, including dependency control, reproducible builds, binary provenance, and SBOM generation
Familiarity with Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing, automated test fixtures, and orchestrated testing across simulators and physical hardware
Comfortable troubleshooting C/C++ build systems (CMake, Bazel, Ninja) and collaborating closely with firmware and algorithm engineers
A strong communicator and collaborator who excels at explaining complex infrastructure tradeoffs to cross-functional teams and external partners
Bonus points:
Experience in the medical device industry, ideally with interventional or robotic systems, and working knowledge of medical device software requirements
Experience developing software under strict regulatory frameworks such as medical devices (IEC 62304, IEC 60601), functional safety (IEC 61508, ISO 13849), or automotive (ISO 26262)
Experience with robotics, autonomous systems, or complex edge compute architectures
Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) or hypervisors/virtualization on embedded hardware
