JOB DESCRIPTION
As a Senior Developer – AI Engineering, you will design, build and deploy AI agents and the full-stack applications that surround them, using Microsoft technologies, Azure AI services, Python, and Client enterprise platforms. You will translate standard Client processes and SOPs into agent capabilities that retrieve information, reason over enterprise data, prepare work and execute governed actions with appropriate human oversight.
This is a hands-on engineering role combining agent and prompt engineering, back-end and API development, enterprise integration and modern front-end work, delivered under clear security, governance and auditability standards. You will report to the Director of Solutions Architecture, work closely with the IT Global Service Center leadership team, and mentor developers as the team scales its AI capability.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Design, build, test and deploy AI agents across Operations, Finance and Commercial domains. Implement orchestration logic that interprets user intent, selects the right agent and tools, validates results and returns auditable outcomes.
  • Build and tune retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) solutions grounded in SOPs, process models, business rules and data definitions, applying prompt engineering, tool and function calling and structured output.
  • Develop and maintain full-stack applications and agent user experiences using .NET Core, C#, ASP.NET, Python, SQL Server and modern front-end frameworks such as React.js, Angular or Vue.js.
  • Design and deliver secure, well-documented RESTful APIs, event-driven services and cloud-native solutions on Azure, including Azure App Services, Azure Functions and Azure AI Foundry / Azure OpenAI.
  • Integrate agents with Client enterprise systems and systems of record through governed tools and APIs, and work with near-real-time data pipelines and event streams.
  • Apply Client AI governance and responsible use standards, including identity and access control, guardrails, audit and traceability, human oversight and compliance.
  • Write clean, maintainable and efficient code following SOLID principles, OWASP secure coding standards and Agile delivery practices, supported by CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.
  • Troubleshoot, debug and optimise application and agent performance, scalability and cost.
  • Partner with architects, product owners and global IT teams, participate in code and design reviews, mentor developers and maintain technical documentation for solutions, agents and integrations.

  • Communication – Your daily job will regularly require communication with Client team members across regions. The ability to clearly communicate, on a technical and business level, is essential to your job. This includes both verbal and written communication.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in full-stack development, focusing on Microsoft technologies (.NET Core, C#, ASP.NET, SQL Server).
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience building LLM-based or agentic solutions in production or advanced pilot, including prompt engineering, RAG and tool or function calling.
  • Strong hands-on proficiency in Python for AI, agent and data workloads, alongside C# / .NET.
  • Practical experience with at least one enterprise AI platform or framework, such as Azure AI Foundry / Azure OpenAI, Microsoft Copilot Studio, Semantic Kernel or LangChain.
  • Experience developing and deploying cloud-native applications on Microsoft Azure, including Azure DevOps and Azure Functions.
  • Proficiency in front-end frameworks such as React.js, Angular, or Vue.js.
  • Strong understanding of web services, RESTful APIs, and database technologies, including advanced SQL and query optimisation.
  • Experience integrating with enterprise systems of record and third-party services.
  • Familiarity with application and AI security standards and practices, such as OWASP Top 10 security risks, identity and access control and data protection.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing and Agile development methodologies.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to debug and troubleshoot code efficiently.
  • Ability to mentor developers and collaborate within a distributed, multi-time-zone team environment.

PREFERRED SKILLS:
  • Experience in freight forwarding, logistics, supply chain or transportation technology.
  • Exposure to CargoWise, enterprise integration platforms or MCP-style tool interfaces.
  • Experience with vector databases, embeddings, semantic search and document intelligence or OCR.
  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Databricks or similar data platforms and near-real-time event processing.
  • Experience implementing AI evaluation, observability, guardrails and cost governance at enterprise scale.
