Job Description

PayPal is seeking a highly skilledSenior Data Scientist to join its analytics and data science team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience inPython, SQL, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP), with a proven ability to translate complex data into actionable business insights. This role involves working closely with product, engineering, and business stakeholders to drive data-driven decision making across PayPal's platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy advanced data science and analytics solutions to solve complex business problems
• Analyze large, complex datasets to extract insights and identify trends, patterns, and opportunities
• Build predictive and statistical models using Python and relevant ML libraries
• Develop and optimize SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, and analysis
• Work extensively withGCP services for data processing, analytics, and model deployment
• Partner with cross-functional teams to define data requirements and deliver impactful insights
• Create clear visualizations, dashboards, and presentations for technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Ensure data quality, integrity, and governance best practices are followed
• Contribute to continuous improvement of data science processes and standards

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as aData Scientist or in a related analytics role
• Strong proficiency inPython (Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, etc.)
• AdvancedSQL skills with experience handling large datasets
• Hands-on experience withGoogle Cloud Platform (GCP) (BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Vertex AI, or similar)
• Solid understanding of statistics, probability, and machine learning techniques
• Experience working with structured and unstructured data
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in financial services, payments, or fintech domain
• Exposure to real-time or large-scale data processing systems
• Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, Looker, Power BI, etc.)
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies
