Job Title: Senior Data Engineer

Location: REMOTE / West Coast (Preference for candidates who can occasionally come into the San Francisco office, but remote is acceptable)

About the Role:

We are seeking an experiencedSenior Data Engineer to support infrastructure initiatives within our Legal Data Engineering team. This role involves building and maintaining high-complexity data pipelines and developing robust monitoring and alerting systems that ensure data integrity and compliance. The ideal candidate has deep technical expertise in SQL and Python-based data pipeline development and thrives in a highly collaborative, cross-functional environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and enhance scalable ETL pipelines using Python and SQL (e.g., DataSwarm, Airflow).
• Develop and maintain alerting systems to detect and notify of data inconsistencies or unauthorized changes.
• Collaborate closely with attorneys, data scientists, and cross-functional teams to understand legal data requirements and deliver compliant data solutions.
• Work with large datasets in data warehousing environments to ensure accurate and efficient data flow.
• Lead end-to-end system builds, including requirements gathering, planning, documentation, and stakeholder coordination.
• Ensure data privacy, security, and compliance across all systems and workflows.
• Proactively identify and resolve data quality issues and contribute to continuous process improvement.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• 5–6+ years of experience in Data Engineering or related roles.
• StrongSQL expertise with experience in querying and optimizing large datasets.
• Proven experience inPython-based data pipeline development (Airflow, DataSwarm, or equivalent frameworks).
• Hands-on experiencebuilding ETL pipelines and working with data warehousing solutions.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills — able to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Self-starter who istenacious, curious, and thrives in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
