About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Architect to lead the architecture and design of a strategic pilot initiative focused on migrating analytics data integrations from SAP Data Intelligence (SAP DI) to SAP Business Data Cloud (SAP BDC) within a production environment.

The successful candidate will drive the end-to-end architecture of three complex data integrations into a modern Databricks-based analytics platform, ensuring scalability, governance, performance, and alignment with enterprise architecture standards. This role requires strong expertise across SAP data ecosystems, cloud data platforms, data modelling, and stakeholder engagement within a large-scale enterprise environment.

Key Responsibilities

Data Architecture & Solution Design

• Lead the high-level and detailed architecture design for three SAP Business Data Cloud (SAP BDC) data integrations into a Databricks analytics platform.
• Design and define integration architectures, ingestion patterns, data processing flows, and Medallion Architecture load strategies.
• Develop source-aligned conceptual, logical, and physical data models, including detailed data mappings.
• Document the current ("As-Is") architecture where data feeds originate from SAP Data Intelligence (SAP DI).
• Create and document the future-state ("Target State") architecture leveraging SAP Business Data Cloud.

Architecture Governance & Delivery Assurance

• Validate that proposed target-state designs can be implemented without business disruption.
• Assess compatibility between existing and future-state data models and integration patterns.
• Define appropriate testing, validation, and migration requirements.
• Ensure all architectural designs comply with enterprise security, privacy, governance, and regulatory standards.
• Present architecture proposals, recommendations, and design artefacts to Architecture Review Boards and Design Authority forums.

Stakeholder Collaboration

• Partner closely with Product Managers, Data Engineers, Analysts, SAP Architects, Solution Architects, and business stakeholders.
• Collaborate with SAP and enterprise architecture teams to optimise solution design and platform capabilities.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance throughout the design and planning lifecycle.

Risk & Technical Leadership

• Identify architectural risks, technical dependencies, constraints, and implementation challenges.
• Develop mitigation strategies and recommendations to support successful delivery.
• Produce and maintain architecture artefacts including solution designs, architecture decision records (ADRs), standards, and technical documentation.
• Influence and contribute to data architecture best practices and enterprise standards.

Required Experience & Skills

Essential

• Proven experience as a Data Architect, Solution Architect, Lead Data Architect, or similar senior architectural role.
• Strong experience designing and delivering modern cloud-based data platforms, preferably using Databricks.
• Extensive expertise in enterprise data architecture and data modelling.
• Hands-on experience designing large-scale data integration and analytics solutions.
• Strong understanding of SAP ecosystems, including SAP data structures, business processes, and data integration architectures.
• Experience designing solutions that consume, integrate, or model data sourced from SAP platforms.
• Deep knowledge of:Data Integration Patterns,Data Ingestion Frameworks,APIs and Service-Based Architectures,Event-Driven Architectures,Data Lakehouse Architectures.Medallion Architecture,Large-Scale Data Processing
• Demonstrated ability to create architecture designs that can be successfully implemented by engineering and delivery teams.
• Strong understanding of data governance, security, privacy, compliance, and regulatory requirements.
• Experience operating within enterprise architecture frameworks and governance processes.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence both technical and non-technical audiences.
