Senior Backend Engineer

Join our Email Security team as aSenior Backend Engineer and help build, improve, and evolve the backend services powering our cybersecurity products.

You'll work in a technically demanding environment where performance, scalability, reliability, and securitymatter. From improving existing systems to designing new services,you'll have the opportunity to take ownership ofmeaningful engineering challenges and influence how our products evolve.

Full-time hybrid in Hanover.

• Taketechnical ownership of existing and new applications or services within our cybersecurity product ecosystem.
• Design, develop, and maintainhigh-quality, scalable, and maintainable software solutions.
• Lead and contribute toarchitectural decisions and helpshape long-term technical direction.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with other developers, product management, system engineers, UX/UI, and QA teams to deliver end-to-end solutions.
• Mentor and support Junior Developers, fostering best practices and continuous improvement.
• Workacross multiple products, contributing to new features, improvements, and long-term maintenance.

• 5+ years of professional experience as a Software Developer, with a strong focus on backend development.
• StrongPython experience, experience with Java or Go is a plus.
• Experience designing, operating, and optimizing relational or non-relational databases. Experience withElasticsearch, SQL databases, or Redis is especially relevant.

• Comfortable working in UNIX-based environments, especiallyLinux.
• Strong experience building and maintaining scalable, high-quality software within complex, distributed systems.
• Strong analytical skills, structured thinking, and a high sense of ownership.
• Fluent in spoken and written English.
  

Nice-to-haves

Experience in any of the following areas would be useful, but you don't need totick every box.

• Experience with designing and maintaining systems hosted on-premises.
• Basic DevOps skills and experience with Ansible.
• Experience in cybersecurity or email software.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted or agent-based development workflows.
