Senior Backend Engineer

We’re looking for aSenior Backend Engineer with strong hands-on experience inJava and Spring Boot to join a collaborative, globally distributed engineering team. In this role, you will build, maintain, and improve backend services, develop integrations, troubleshoot production issues, and contribute to the reliability and performance of complex software systems.

The ideal candidate has solid software engineering fundamentals, takes ownership of technical challenges from investigation through resolution, and usesAI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code as an essential part of their daily workflow. You should be comfortable working with production systems, collaborating with technical and non-technical teams, and delivering well-tested, maintainable solutions.

Requirements:

• 5+years of professional software development experience, including building and supporting production applications.

• Proven experienceleading or coordinatingengineering, support, or technical operations teams

• Strong hands-on experience withJava and Spring Boot, including REST controllers, dependency injection, configuration, and backend service development.

• Experience designing, developing, and maintainingRESTful APIs and microservices.

• Experience withJUnit, Mockito, or similar testing frameworks.

• Solid understanding ofobject-oriented programming, data structures, algorithms, design patterns, and software engineering best practices.

• Experience working withMongoDB or other NoSQL databases, as well as relational databases such as PostgreSQL.

• Experience withRedis or similar caching technologies.

• Familiarity withAWS or comparable cloud platforms.

• Understanding ofmicroservices communication patterns, including asynchronous messaging and event-driven architectures.

• Daily hands-on experience using AI development tools such as Claude Code or similar, for coding, debugging, testing, and improving development workflows.

• Ability to review, validate, and take ownership of AI-generated code.

• Experience troubleshooting production issues, performing root cause analysis, and implementing reliable fixes.

• Familiarity withGit, CI/CD, automated testing, and professional software development practices.

• Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

• Strong English communication skills – C1 level proficiency.

• Experience creating technical documentation and context files for AI development tools.

• Experience with performance optimization, database indexing, and distributed systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and support a team responsible for keeping client systems running smoothly.

• Manage and investigate support tickets from clients, including errors, configuration requests, and operational issues.

• Analyze logs, API behavior, monitoring alerts, and system data to identify the root cause of problems.

• Coordinate with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to resolve issues efficiently.

• Make or coordinate configuration changes within the system based on client needs.

• Use tools like DataDog or similar platforms to monitor system health and performance.

• Use API tools such as Postman, Insomnia, or curl to test requests, validate behavior, and troubleshoot issues.
