Senior Architect

Summary:

The Remote Services Architect is responsible for defining and governing the end-to-end system and solution architecture for Remote Services platforms, spanning IoT devices, connectivity, firmware management (FOTA), cloud platforms (AWS & Azure), and enterprise integrations. This role partners closely with product, engineering, and operations teams to design secure, scalable, and resilient architectures that enable remote diagnostics, monitoring, and over-the-air updates for connected products. The architect will drive current county assessments, future county blueprints, and technology decisions aligned with enterprise digital strategy and standards.

Responsibilities:

• Define and govern the end-to-end system and solution architecture for Remote Services platforms.
• Partner with product, engineering, and operations teams to design secure, scalable, and resilient architectures.
• Drive current county assessments, future county blueprints, and technology decisions.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• 10 years of overall experience in software/platform engineering.
• 5 years in an architecture role (System, Solution, or Platform Architect).
• Cloud certifications (AWS and/or Azure) preferred.

Required Skills:

• Strong expertise in System Architecture and Solution Architecture.
• Hands-on experience with AWS or Azure cloud platforms.
• Strong knowledge of IoT architectures, device lifecycle, and telemetry platforms.
• Experience with FOTA/OTA firmware management for connected devices.
• Solid understanding of microservices, APIs, event streaming, and distributed systems.
• Experience designing secure, scalable, highly available platforms.

Preferred Skills:

• Ability to create architecture diagrams, blueprints, and reference architectures.
• Experience evaluating technologies and making architecture trade-off decisions.
• Strong understanding of non-functional requirements (performance, reliability, security, scalability).
