Position Overview
A Senior Automation Engineer is needed to help automate and improve the build, deploy, and operation of NC FAST applications. The primary role is to lead automation efforts for infrastructure provisioning, build, and deploy activities for NC FAST applications.
The position requires a solid understanding of AWS infrastructure and the software release life cycle. Responsibilities include:
- Creating and maintaining Ansible playbooks.
- Troubleshooting automation issues.
- Ensuring consistent and reliable deployments across environments.
- Collaborating with DevOps and application teams to enhance CI/CD workflows.
- Debugging deployments, validating configurations, and improving release reliability.
The position will work with IT management to improve software engineering processes and practices associated with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) of application changes.
The position will interact with architects, developers, the deployment team, and database administrators to ensure automation of various tasks.
This position requires on-call availability during evenings and weekends as needed to meet business needs.
- IT Operations Support
- Experience with automating Linux OS and software patches and upgrades across multiple environments using automations tools like Ansible
- Hands on Experience (like branching, merging, configuring, and administering) with BitBucket or GIT Source Code Management tool
- Hands on experience in Automating build/deploy process including changes to database using tools like Ansible
- Experience developing automation scripts, operational utilities, and workflow scripts using Python/Bash/Shell
- Experience building and packaging applications with Docker, and managing and scaling containerized workloads using Kubernetes
- Experience in infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and environment management using Terraform and Ansible
- Hands on experience developing and managing CI/CD (DevOps) pipeline using tools like Teamcity, Jenkins, Ansible
- Strong knowledge and understanding of Amazon web Services and infrastructure
