Job Role:Senior Application Developer

Duration:2 Months (Highly chance to extends)

Location: Toronto, ON (2-3 days in week onsite)

Job Description:

We are seeking a Senior Application Developer to join a high-impact enterprise applications team supporting critical university-wide systems. This role will focus on the design, development, and enhancement of a large-scale administrative platform, working within a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
This is a hands-on, senior-level contract role requiring strong full-stack development experience, architectural thinking, and the ability to lead technical initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop complex, database-driven applications on a LAMP platform
  • Build and maintain applications using PHP (Laravel), JavaScript, HTML, CSS
  • Develop and optimize MySQL/PostgreSQL queries and database structures
  • Architect and implement scalable, secure application solutions
  • Write, test, and review high-quality, maintainable code
  • Develop and maintain RESTful APIs for system integration
  • Ensure application security, including authentication and encryption practices
  • Lead technical design discussions and contribute to architectural decisions
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to gather and translate business requirements
  • Support project planning, timelines, and delivery milestones


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience in software development
  • Strong expertise in PHP and Laravel (MVC frameworks)
  • Solid front-end experience with JavaScript (Vue.js or React), HTML, CSS
  • Experience with MySQL and/or PostgreSQL
  • Proven experience building and consuming RESTful APIs
  • Experience with Git/version control systems
  • Strong understanding of application security best practices
  • Experience with unit testing (e.g., PHPUnit)
  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve complex technical problems independently
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

Nice-to-Have:

  • Experience in enterprise or higher education environments
  • Familiarity with Azure (preferred), AWS, or Google Cloud
  • Experience with Azure DevOps or ServiceNow
