Senior Accountant - Hybrid

Genesis10 is currently seeking a Senior Accountant for a hybrid contract to hire position with a Technology Company located in Fairfax, VA.

Compensation: $55.00 - $75.00 per hour, W2, based on qualifications

Position Overview:
This role manages day-to-day accounting activities, with primary responsibility for Accounts Payable (AP), general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial close activities. The Senior Accountant will also manage Accounts Receivable (AR) and billing, while providing support for inventory accounting, audits, internal controls, and process improvements. The ideal candidate will maintain accurate, compliant financial records in accordance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform and oversee day-to-day accounting functions for Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and the General Ledger
• Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close in accordance with U.S. GAAP
• Assist with preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Administer and review accounting-related organizational setups and updates in Unanet
• Lead and maintain contract setup and modifications in Unanet to support accurate job cost accounting
• Maintain vendor profiles, process invoices, and manage employee expense reports
• Process vendor payments and ensure required documentation is collected and maintained
• Maintain customer profiles, prepare and review customer invoices, and monitor collection activity
• Maintain inventory accounting and tracking records and perform periodic reconciliations
• Prepare and support required tax reporting and documentation, including Form 1099
• Support external financial statement audits, internal controls audits, and government contract audits
• Identify and implement opportunities to improve accounting processes, internal controls, and efficiency
• Directly supervise one Staff Accountant, including providing day-to-day guidance and reviewing work

Primary Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 3-5+ years of progressive accounting experience with a strong understanding of U.S. GAAP
• 1+ year of supervisory or team-lead experience
• Demonstrated experience with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities
• Hands-on experience in inventory accounting and management
• Experience with job cost accounting and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (lookup functions, PivotTables)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and discretion
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
• Able to satisfy all government-mandated personnel security, suitability, and background investigation requirements

Desired Skills:

• Experience with Unanet ERP is strongly preferred
