Senior Accountant – Corporate Accounting (Contract)

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join the Corporate Accounting team. This role is responsible for supporting treasury and financial reporting activities, including interest income, foreign exchange, insurance accounting, intercompany transactions, and financial reporting.

The successful candidate will collaborate with Finance, Corporate Accounting, and Information Systems teams to prepare accurate financial information, support SAP testing initiatives, and ensure compliance with accounting standards. This position is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys analytical work, cross-functional collaboration, and working in a large enterprise environment.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Accounting

• Prepare and analyze monthly variance reports for interest income and other financial accounts

• Record quarterly accounting entries related to restricted investments

• Perform quarterly and annual accounting for insurance captive and insurance programs

• Prepare Management Discussion & Analysis (MD&A) and financial statement note disclosures related to interest income and foreign exchange

• Support intercompany and inter-affiliate settlements

SAP & Cross-Functional Support

• Partner with Finance, Corporate Accounting, Treasury, and Information Systems teams on SAP testing activities

• Support SAP testing related to intercompany loan setup and treasury derivatives

• Assist with system validation, process improvements, and accounting-related initiatives

Analysis & Continuous Improvement

• Perform financial analysis and investigate account variances

• Support ad hoc reporting requests and special projects

• Recommend process improvements to enhance reporting accuracy and efficiency

Required Qualifications

• 6+ years of progressive accounting experience

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Commerce, Business, or a related discipline

• CPA designation (CPA, CGA, CMA, or equivalent)

• Strong knowledge of:

  • Financial reporting

  • Corporate accounting

  • US GAAP

  • Consolidation accounting

• Hands-on experience with SAP ECC

• Experience working within a large enterprise environment

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with:

  • SAP BPC

  • SAP Treasury and Risk Management (TRM)

  • Treasury accounting

  • Foreign exchange (FX) accounting

  • Intercompany accounting

  • Multi-currency environments

• Public accounting (Big 4 or equivalent) experience

• Oil & gas or other large regulated industry experience

• Experience supporting Finance and IT system testing initiatives

• Comfortable working across Finance, Accounting, Treasury, and IT teams

• Strong SAP user with experience supporting financial systems and reporting
