Senior Accountant

Cherry Bekaert Recruiting is seeking an experiencedSenior Accountant on a contract basis to provide coverage during an employee leave. This position will play a key role in supporting day-to-day accounting operations and ensuring the timely and accurate completion of month-end financial activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries.
• Perform account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
• Conduct variance analysis and provide explanations for financial fluctuations.
• Assist with month-end close activities and financial reporting.
• Maintain and support general ledger accounting functions.
• Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support accounting and finance initiatives as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
• Strong general ledger accounting experience required.
• Experience with month-end close processes, journal entries, and reconciliations.
• Ability to analyze financial results and identify variances.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience withMicrosoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains) is a plus.

Work Arrangement

• Hybrid schedule with2 days onsite in Columbia, MD and3 days remote each week.
