- Under the direction of the Staff Chief Engineer, responsible for maintenance and repairs within the main machinery spaces as per the AMOS schedule and as otherwise needed
- Coordinates safety and cleanliness activities within the main machinery spaces
- Provide professional and social guidance to subordinates by personal leadership.
- Provides training in safe working practices to direct reports.
- Responsible for the proper functioning and maintenance of the equipment specified in AMOS for this position and those subordinate to it. This normally includes the following systems, but assignments may be modified by the Chief Eng. as needed:
- Diesel Generators (DG) and associated systems
- Fuel Booster Modules
- Lube Oil System Filters
- DG fresh water cooling and expansion tanks
- Strainers for seawater cooling system
- Familiar with the operation of the main plant and appraised of its status at all times
- Fully acquainted with the requirements of AMOS planned maintenance system, reports work performed, and updates requirements based on actual experience
- Coordinates and supervises cleaning, painting within the machinery spaces.
- Oversees tool custody and daily check-out routine for the Engineering workshop and for the individual tool kits of Crew Members reporting to this position.
- Checks and records safety status of lifting, rigging and slinging gear.
- Sees that the “Permit to Work” procedures are observed at all times and that all items of machinery under maintenance and repair are safely isolated and tagged
- Acts as the mentor for the watch-keeping 2nd Engineers - provides support, guidance and coordination for the safe operation of the plant while at sea or in port.
- Emergency Duties as specified in the ship’s Assembly / Emergency Function Plan

This is a SHIPBOARD role.You must:
- Be genuinely interested in a career at sea and willing to live and work onboard a Disney Cruise Line vessel
- Be willing to follow and perform safety role, emergency responsibilities, and associated responsibilities as specified in the ship Assembly Plan
- Be willing to uphold the general safety management responsibilities as specified in the Safety Management System in areas and operations under their control
- If applicable, be willing to share a confined cabin with other crew members and appreciative of working and living in a multicultural environment that has strict rules and regulations
- Have a valid passport and C1/D Seaman's visa (DCL will provide you with documents to obtain this)
- Complete a pre-employment medical
- Obtain a criminal background check
- Bring approved work shoes
