The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

As a Tool Maker you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

• Driving continuous improvements in tool builds and repair. Provide support of production processes and equipment focusing on plastic and rubber injection molding, high speed stamping and a very large assortment of assembly equipment to produce products such as water filters, electrical termination, hard hats, respirator components, ear plugs, locating and marking solutions, etc. 
• Provide documented ideas and suggestions to reduce maintenance costs, improve operations, and increase equipment reliability.
• Use safe working methods/procedures at all times to avoid personal injury, injury to co-workers, or damage to company equipment and/or property. Observe all 3M safety rules.
• Collaborate with colleagues in a supportive, team-oriented manner to help achieve the goals of the work unit, department, plant, and company.

Your Skills and Expertise 

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

Applicants must be 18 years of age or older to be considered for this 3M Production role, in compliance with U.S. labor and safety laws. 

• Possess an associate degree or technical diploma or higher in Machine Tool Technology (completed and verified prior to start)

AND

• five (5) or more years of related work experience building, repairing, or maintaining molds or dies.

AND

• Ability to run all manual tool room equipment in a safe and efficient manner

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

• Seven (7) or more years of related work experience building, repairing, or maintaining molds or dies
• Drafting/Modeling experience
• Mastercam experience
• CNC milling and/or turning experience
• A strong mechanical aptitude with strong problem solving and reasoning ability.
• Ability to lift/carry heavy materials
• Ability to comprehend, understand, and apply written and verbal directions from standard operating procedures, safety rules and supervisor coaching
• Ability to wear personal protective equipment in accordance with safety rules

Pay & Benefits: 

• The starting rate of pay for this position is $41.61 with the potential to reach $45.24.This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and/or experience. In addition, this position may be eligible for a range of benefits (e.g., Medical, Dental & Vision, Health Savings Accounts, Health Care & Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts, Disability Benefits, Life Insurance, Voluntary Benefits, Paid Absences, and Retirement Benefits, etc.).
