School Outreach Support Volunteer (Ibadan, Nigeria)

Location: Ibadan, Oyo State (Remote preparation + primarily onsite at secondary schools) 

Reports To: School Outreach Coordinator 

Position Type: Volunteer (minimum of 4 hours per week, including onsite school sessions) 

Job Overview 

The School Outreach Support Volunteer will work directly with the School Outreach Coordinator to deliver AI-4AI’s 2026 School Outreach Program in Ibadan and nearby secondary schools. You will support the preparation of materials, co-facilitate engaging AI literacy sessions for students, train teachers on responsible AI, distribute resources, launch AI Clubs, and support monitoring so that every school can continue the program independently. This is a practical, high-impact volunteer role that brings AI education to Nigerian classrooms and builds lasting local capacity. 

Key Responsibilities 

Preparation & Material Support  

• Support the adaptation and finalize the reusable AI literacy delivery kit (curriculum modules, lesson plans, student workbooks, interactive activities, and project-based assessments).  

• Support the creation and customization of self-learning resources for students and, teachers. 

• Support local needs assessments (infrastructure checks, teacher surveys, student feedback). 

Onsite Delivery & Facilitation  

• Co-deliver AI literacy modules in secondary schools, mainly in-person in Ibadan, with occasional hybrid support via Microsoft Teams.  

• Support the teacher's professional development sessions on “Guiding Responsible AI Use” (case studies, ethics, classroom activities).  

• Ensure 100% distribution of resource packs and guides to students and teachers. 

AI Club & Sustainability Support  

• Assist schools in launching AI Clubs using the starter kits.  

• Participate in quarterly monitoring (WhatsApp/phone check-ins) to track club activities and document barriers or successes.  

• Collect student/teacher success stories, photos, and feedback for quarterly reports and sponsor updates. 

Person Attributes 

• Passion for AI education and empowering African youth through practical learning.  

• Strong facilitation and communication skills (comfortable teaching secondary students and teachers).  

• Organized, reliable, and able to work independently or in a small team.  

• Willingness to commute within Ibadan and nearby areas for onsite school visits.  

• Commitment to responsible AI and AI-4AI’s mission of African-led AI literacy.  

• Access to a smartphone/laptop and reliable internet for preparation and reporting. 

Qualifications 

• Background or interest in education, computer science, AI, or related fields (students and recent graduates welcome).  

• Basic understanding of AI concepts (full training provided).  

• Experience or enthusiasm for teaching, volunteering, or working with young people.  

• Good spoken and written English/Yoruba; ability to simplify complex ideas.  

• Familiarity with Ibadan/Oyo State schools is a big advantage.
