Position purpose
·The SAP Technical Lead / Manager – S/4HANA Deployment leads the North America regional technical hub for Modern ERP and is the accountable regional SAP technical deployment leader. Reporting to the Modern ERP Platform Lead, this leader runs the Canadian hub team, owns regional technical readiness and execution across SIT2, UAT, both Dress Rehearsals, production cutover and hypercare, and provides in time zone leadership for North America and London.
·The role exists because regional cutover readiness cannot be delivered remotely or absorbed by an operational support function. It is a SAP S/4HANA deployment leadership role — owning program specific governance, assurance and execution — that partners with, but is distinct from, in-country IS&T operations teams.
·The team you will lead
·The Canadian hub is deliberately structured with technical depth in Toronto and bilingual, stakeholder-facing capability in Montreal. All customer, stakeholder and cutover-facing roles are Montreal-based and bilingual (French/English).

Regional cutover command and control |
Note:cutover roles join from the Dress Rehearsal phase; the core technical and assurance roles run from SIT2 through to hypercare.
Core accountabilities:
Leadership and team:
·Lead and manage the Canadian SAP technical deployment hub team, providing guidance, performance feedback and professional development opportunities.
·Build the team through mobilisation — support recruitment, onboarding and induction into program governance, assurance obligations and ways of working.
·Establish a clear regional operating rhythm, escalation paths and reporting lines into the Platform Lead and the global program.
·Put trust in specialists who own each technical area, helping them problem solve while maintaining the big-picture view.
Regional technical delivery and readiness
·Own regional technical readiness and execution across SIT2, UAT, Dress Rehearsals 1 and 2, production cutover and hypercare.
·Provide in-region break fix capability so North America and London defects are triaged and resolved within the local working day, rather than waiting on the APAC core team.
·Own the regional interface and downstream-dependency view — interfaces, reports and integrations — with a named owner per item and clear cutover-critical classification.
·Lead regional technical readiness for in-region scope changes, including new Fiori applications, security roles and the retirement of replaced business-built tools at RTA Atlantic sites, RINCON, etc.
·Maintain a single regional readiness view and evidence base that stands up to stage-gate and assurance review.
Governance, assurance and controls
·Operate within program change and release governance — defect management, transport approval and QA validation — ensuring adherence to IS&T and SoX controls.
·Own regional defect triage, prioritisation and escalation, including expedited handling of critical defects.
·Provide readiness evidence and recommendations at phase entry and exit gates, and contribute to Go/No-Go decisions for the region.
·Apply and uphold platform patterns, standards and governance defined by the Modern ERP Platform.
Third-party and stakeholder coordination
·Own third-party technical readiness across the United States and Canada — connectivity, environment repointing, test windows, defect coordination and cutover steps.
·Establish and run a working partnership with IS&T teams in the region (including the Salt Lake City node) for local awareness, site context and escalation support, while retaining regional delivery accountability.
·Coordinate vendor and stakeholder engagement for third parties that directly contribute to production, escalating slippage through program governance.
·Ensure bilingual, stakeholder-facing coordination for Quebec and North American business users through the Montreal spoke.
Cutover and hypercare
·Own the regional cutover runbook — ramp-down, execution and ramp-up — aligned to the global cutover plan.
·Lead the regional command post through both Dress Rehearsals, validating sequencing, timings and downtime windows for production-critical applications.
·Capture lessons learnt, drive remediation between rehearsals, and carry the proven runbook into production cutover.
·Lead regional incident response and stabilisation through hypercare, and manage transition of roles into operate or release at the stabilisation gate.
What you will bring
·Demonstrated experience leading and managing technical teams on large-scale SAP S/4HANA deployment or enterprise transformation programmes.
·Strong working knowledge across the SAP technical landscape — integration, BASIS/BTP, security and authorisations, and custom application development.
·Practical experience of test cycles and cutover — SIT, UAT, dress rehearsals and go-live — including defect management and release/transport governance.
·Experience owning third-party and vendor technical readiness, including connectivity, testing and cutover coordination.
·Ability to set up and run governance, resource management and readiness reporting in a complex program environment.
·Articulate and strategic, able to communicate credibly with senior stakeholders while staying close enough to the detail to challenge and assure.
·Proven ability to partner and problem-solve, reaching a best-for-all outcome and influencing without direct authority.
Highly regarded
·Bilingual French/English, or experience supporting Quebec-based operations and French-language obligations.
·Experience in mining, metals, resources or another asset-intensive industry.
·Exposure to multi-domain (end-to-end) ERP scope across supply chain, maintenance, finance and commercial processes.
·Experience working across distributed, multi-time-zone delivery teams with an offshore core.
·Familiarity with digital adoption tooling and the technical ownership it requires.
What success looks like
·First 90 days: Team mobilised, onboarded and operating to a clear regional rhythm; regional readiness view established with named owners; hub credible at program governance forums.
·Through SIT2 and UAT:Regional defects triaged and resolved in local hours; third-party technical readiness progressing to plan; phase entry and exit evidence accepted at gate review.
·Through the Dress Rehearsals: Regional runbook proven; sequencing, timings and downtime windows validated; lessons learnt closed out between rehearsals.
·Cutover and hypercare: Region executes cutover to plan; incidents resolved in region; roles transitioned cleanly into operate or released at the stabilisation gate.
